5.0 out of 5 stars This video is the best!
My daughter watches this movie over and over! She sings and talks along with the movie! This has helped with her potty training! She loves Prudence and wants to do exactly what she does. I think you need to have a positive attitude and have fun with the potty training. My daughter also puts her potty on her head and asks if it is a hat, then shakes her head and says...

3.0 out of 5 stars I'm not sure what I think about this video
I expected a lot more from this video from reading the reviews however this video did not meet my expectations. I wanted the characters to actually go through the motions of potting training, by pulling their pants down and getting on the potty. There was not enough sitting on the potty by the other babies, however Prudence does a good job by sitting and showing how to...

This review is from: Once Upon a Potty For Her (DVD)
My daughter watches this movie over and over! She sings and talks along with the movie! This has helped with her potty training! She loves Prudence and wants to do exactly what she does. I think you need to have a positive attitude and have fun with the potty training. My daughter also puts her potty on her head and asks if it is a hat, then shakes her head and says no it isn't a hat, just like the movie. I have no problem with this since her potty is clean.

I think this movie is very helpful!

5.0 out of 5 stars VERY HELPFUL!, Mar 17 2004
By A Customer
I used the "for him" video with my son who is now 7 1/2 yrs old and the "for her" video with my daughter who is now 5 1/2 and now I'm purchasing it for my 2 year old. The books are good to reinforce as well. It's such a cute video and tasteful.

1.0 out of 5 stars Doesn't teach, Feb 9 2004
I needed some help teaching my 2 1/2 year old to use the potty, so I got this video. It didn't help at all - the kids on there are BABIES who sit on the potty with their diaper on. This is all my daughter wanted to do after watching the video. There is one part where "Prudence" puts the potty on her head, which my daughter also wanted to do. It'd be more helpful it if taught kids of the right age how to pull their pants down, sit on the potty, then afterwards WASH THEIR HANDS. No mention of toilet paper at all, either. This was a complete waste of money and time for us.

1.0 out of 5 stars It's a potty disaster; right there on your living room couch, Nov 21 2003
By A Customer
My niece watched this movie, and went and hid under the covers. I think they just made the big potty seem way too scary. This isn't a potty training video, it is more like an anti-potty training video. This will scare your children so much, that they will go potty right there on the spot!!! Just say no to this movie.

4.0 out of 5 stars Some twee with your wee..., Aug 13 2003
By A Customer
This is awfully, terribly cute. I bought this for my daughter because my son enjoyed his so much. She likes it even more than he did. No, she's not potty trained YET, but she's just 2. The boy version, though, did help my son, who was trained about a month before his 3rd birthday (we didn't try any sooner because we knew we were going to move). It is very corny, though, especially the lyrics to the potty song. And the advice for parents at the end can be watched once or twice, then skipped. I recommend buying the book that goes with this.

4.0 out of 5 stars Worked Like Magic for My Toddler, Jun 29 2003
When I first viewed this video with my 2-1/2 year old I thought it rather silly, and thin on information for my toddler (the cartoon for children lasts a mere 5 minutes or so). But then my daughter asked to watch the video two more times. After the final viewing she immediately asked to use the potty. She proceeded to spend the rest of the day, and the next day using nothing but the potty. This was a remarkable turnaround for a child who used the potty sporadically at best up to that point. I have two criticisms which still stand, despite my daughter's new found potty success. First, the doctor interviewed in the video says that the average age for potty training is 2-1/2 years old, yet the vast majority of children shown during the potty song appear to be 18 month old or younger. Secondly, "Prudence" is shown throughout the video with a top on, but wearing no pants. Undoubtedly this how most parents get their children to start using the potty. But it would have been a good idea to also show Prudence learning how to pull down her pants to use the potty, representing the next stage of successful potty training.

1.0 out of 5 stars don't waste the money, Jun 5 2003
By
"johnnykat" (Fresno, CA United States) - See all my reviews
I am so glad I borrowed this video from the library instead of spending good money to own this bore. The story dramatization lasts but 5 minutes. All the rest is annoying filler. The sing along potty song will immediately irritate you. The parental information contained in the second half of this you probably already know or already have in one of your other parenting books. A better choice would be "The Potty Book For Girls"

1.0 out of 5 stars Only if you want to hear a horrible "potty song", April 14 2003

Since your child will want to watch it again and again, choose your potty-teaching video wisely. "Bear in the Big Blue House" is MUCH better all around. Clever, fun songs (5 of them!), no cutesey words for body parts ("Once..." explains that pee-pee comes out of your wee-wee, whereas in "Bear..." one simply poops, the word we use in our house). One up-side for "Once...": for parents who have questions about when and how to being potty-teaching, there is a much more informative section AFTER the kid's video, but you may want to fast-forward through the awful "Potty Song."

2.0 out of 5 stars Too Many Diapers, Feb 14 2003
By A Customer
I bought this video when my daughter was potty training. We had the book already, and she loved that, so I thought that this might keep her sitting on the potty a bit longer. I was disappointed by the only live-action children wearing their diapers to sit on the potty. Who wears diapers to sit on a potty? However, she did love the video, and continued to sing the Potty Song for long after she had been potty trained. I will not buy the boys version for my son, as there are better training tools out there.

3.0 out of 5 stars I'm not sure what I think about this video, Oct 1 2002
I expected a lot more from this video from reading the reviews however this video did not meet my expectations. I wanted the characters to actually go through the motions of potting training, by pulling their pants down and getting on the potty. There was not enough sitting on the potty by the other babies, however Prudence does a good job by sitting and showing how to use the potty,I wish they showed how to pull her pants down and then sit to pee pee in the potty. My 24 month old son was doing a good job using the potty before I purchased the video. I needed assistance with showing him how to pull his pants down and tell me when he has to use the potty. He use the potty when he's around the house naked, as soon as I put underwear on him he pee's in his pants. The video captured his attention as I sat with him to encourage him want was happening in the video. I have not seen any difference however I guess time will tell.
