The english opinion,
By bex (England) - See all my reviews
This review is from: In The Zone (Audio CD)
Heya. im an english fan of britney and this is what i think of her 4th album, in the zone :1.Me against the music - git's ok, if you like big dance tracks then you'll love it but it's not my kinda thing 6/10 2.(I got that) Boom boom - okay, everyone has different taste and they're gonna like different things, but this is a seriously BAD song, it really is terrible. 1/10 3. Showdown - really good, the beat goes strong all the way through it and the effect of her voice in this song is amazing. 8/10 4. Breathe on me - When i listen to the album i usually skip this track, it's relativley good, but the way her soft, whispy voice contrasts with the strong beat of the song isn't good. 6/10 5. Early mornin' - I love this song, it works really well and it has a really cool r'n'b edge to it. 8.5/10 6. Toxic - I am in love with song. It's the work of pure genius. It's so different from everything else that she or anyone else has released. A little bit strange but still good. 9.5/10 7. Outrageous - I like this song and it's really good all the way through the song until it gets to the third verse, it completley changes from the morrocan r'n'b type music to some form of floaty pop that just doesn't work well. 8/10 8. Touch of my hand - it's all araibian at the begining which i never quite understood, but good vocals, big problem with this song is th chorus, it is so annying but it gets stuck in your head and you can't get rid of it for days! 7/10 9. The hook up - i don't like it. At all. It's an ok song but i can't stand this type of music. It's kind of rao mixed with r'n'b. Hate it hate it hat it! 2/10 10. Shadow - I love this type of music, i adore slow slushy songs, but the only problem with this song is that there are little sound effects all the way through it and it doesn't go well with the gorgeous sound of the music. Amazing chorus though. 9.5/10 11.Brave new girl - this isn't britney! it sounds like something of her first album, too poppy, in this song she completley looses her r'n'b edge and it's just pure pop. Not my thing. 4/10 12. Everytime - I LOVE THIS SONG! It is the best song on the album, in fact it's the best song off any of her albums and it's just so great and pretty and amazing. Then again, i am obbsessed with slushy love ballads so maybe it's not everyone's cup of tea, but it;s certainly mine! 11/10 13.Me against the music remix - I despise remixes. they're not good and they're a waste of space, don't waste your time listening to this track. 0/10 14. The answer - I think this track might be a UK bonus track but ill tell you about it anyway. It's bad, like all other bonus tracks. 3/10 15. Don't hang up 0- Bonus TRACK! 3/10 So, there you have it, an english persons view on britney, all in all i'd say this is a good album, maybe a couple of bad tracks, but any album has bad tracks. I'd say this was her second best. Ooops........is still her best album and i thnk it just pips in the zone to the post!

The Best Of Britney,
By A Customer
This review is from: In The Zone (Audio CD)
In the five years since you first heard Britney Spears' bubblegum pop anthem "...Baby, One More Time" alot has changed. Your age, your musical tastes, and Britney Spears. Have you noticed? After trying to show us she's grown up on her last two albums (only failing by a little, and coming very close the third time around) she is ready to go all out. Discussing more adult situations, working with a wider variety of producers, and even some collaborations make Britney Spears' "In The Zone" a fantastic musical experience. On the opening track "Me Against The Music" featuring none other than Spears' own muse, Madonna, they tell the story of a battle with a song, if you can figure out what she's saying. After listening to it over and over again though, the club anthem (yes, you read right, club, not bubblegum pop) grows on you and becomes as infectious and catchy as Britney was in her early days. On the Moby contribution to the album, "Early Mornin'" Britney sings about waking up after a hard night of partying feeling a bit under the weather over a fantastic bubbling beat. P. Diddy's contribution, "The Answer" is another standout track, which unbelievably almost didn't make the album. However, the best of the hip hop collaborations is either with R. Kelly ("Outrageous" on which Spears sings about things such as "my sex drive" and "my world tour" and "my shopping spree" and saying how sexy her underwear feel in her jeans.) or the duet with the Ying Yang twins ("(I've Got That) Boom Boom" on which Spears sets out to prove she's got the beat). The albums true standout moments come from the albums two ballads. The Matrix (Avril Lavigne, Liz Phair) contribute what Rolling Stone calls a "Mid 90's Aerosmith ballad" with "Shadow," a truly amazing revelation for people who say Spears can't sing. She also shows off her power on "Everytime" which delivers what many are saying is a reference to Justin Timberlake ("I may have made it rain, please forgive me, my weakness caused you pain, and this song's my sorry") In one last attempt to prove she's grown up (which works surprisingly well, i might add) Britney takes on the subject of masturbation on what is simply titled "Touch Of My Hand" singing over middle eastern music in an almost Janet Jackson feel she sings "I don't want to explain tonight, all the things I've tried to hide" Clearly this girl (or woman...i don't know) has grown up alot. If only people other than her would realize it.

well first of all, I still think she can do better, but this is probably her best CD yet, here`s what i think of the songs...1. Me against the music feat. Madonna: this is a good dancy club song. 9/10 2.(I got that) boom boom feat. ying yang twins: I usually skip this one, I don`t like it, least fav. on the CD,would be better without the twins. 1/10 3. Showdown: I love the music in this song, but the lyrics are pretty dumb. 8/10 4. Breathe on me: my fav. song on the CD!, I love this song, the beat rocks, Britney should do more songs like this. 10/10 5. Early mornin`: very cool song, the music and beat sound great. 8.5/10 6. Toxic: I like the sound of this one, very different. 8.5/10 7. Outrageous: 2 words, (Very repetitive!) but still pretty good with a dance/RnB sound to it. 8/10 8. Touch of my hand: this one is cool but i doubt it will ever be a single with the message of it, very cool music though. 9/10 9. The hook up: the middle of the song when she sings faster sounds awesome, i like this one too. 8/10 10. Shadow: i really like this one, a very nice ballad with nice lyrics, my 2nd fav. on the CD. 10/10 11. Brave new girl: talk about pop! this song is the popiest one on the disc. the britney rap is pretty cool though. 6.5/10 12. Everytime: the 2nd ballad on the CD, I personally like "Shadow" better but this one is ok. 7.5/10 13. Me against the music (remix) I like this remix, it has a nice vibe to it, a nice change from the orignal. 9/10 here are my favs.

'Zone' Review,

Britney Spears has raised the sex-o-meter once again. This time, stepping up to the plate with more provocative lyrics ("Monogomy is the way to go/Just put your lips together and blow"), and destroying the fine line she walked, between girl next door, and seductive vixen. "In the Zone" is a disc that pushes the listener, and even Britney herself, into a world where being comfortable with your sexuality is number one. Tracks like "Breathe on Me" and "Touch of My Hand" are undeniably perverse, and yet a momentously guilty pleasure. The hip-hop tracks in which Britney attempts street cred are "Outrageous", which is catchy, but lacks a stronger base line, and "(I've Got That) Boom Boom", which is an upbeat dance romp, that is sure to make you want to shake what your momma gave you. "Toxic" is still brilliant, even after all of it's radio success, and "The Hook-Up" is a raggae-meets-pop-meets-dance track. Britney's vocals are not stand-out on this record, probably because it is strictly a dance CD. However, songs like "Shadow" (An ode to an unattentive lover) and "Everytime" (The response to Timberlake's "Cry Me a River") are raw and filled with expression. Artistically and Musically, this is by far Britney's strongest record. It was not meant to show off her vocals, (which contrary to extremely popular belief Britney DOES possess) but rather, to gain attention of fans and non-fans alike, and show them that Britney Spears dares to be different from her affluent pop competitors, and succeeds.

Here Is My Review of In The Zone...,
By Ryan (San Antonio, TX USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: In The Zone (Audio CD)
First of all, I'd like to say that yes I've bought this cd, and yes I had doubts about it. I'd also like to say that, I'm not going to ... anyone. I'm writing how i really feel about this cd. Whether you're a fan or not, I think it's not right to just call a cd crap just cuz you don't like the singer or that it's the best thing ever just because you're a hardcore fan...You really have to have listen to the entire cd "on your own", and "not" just a few tracks, to make a fair review. Enjoy. The music department of this cd is very diverse and it's not so "poppish" where more than half of the cd sounds the same. The lyrics could be better in some places though but I'm glad she wrote a little more than half of the songs on the cd, that's definently a plus. Me Against The Music: We've all heard this one. The collaboration with brit. and madonna. This song isn't the best brit. song i've heard but it's still a catchy song. The chorus is simple yet catchy and then the fast part along the "i wanna get in the zone" area is interesting. (I Got That) Boom Boom: Well, this song is one of my least fav. on the cd. If the Yin Yang Twins weren't in there then it may have sounded better or maybe if they sang at dif. parts then it might've sounded better, but who knows. The opening and the chorus are the best parts to me, could've been a little better. Showdown: I've got to admit, i do like the way this song sounds. It has this interesting "popcorn/bubble" sound to it. It's kind of cool and the chorus sounds nice and the guitar in and before the chorus is a nice edition:) This song is fun to listen to, i enjoyed it. Breathe On Me: This is one of my fav. songs on the cd. It has a very sensual techno tune and her sexy vocals are really nice here. Her voice and the music flow together rather smoothly and the song is very soothing to listen too. This is definently an A+ song. Early Mornin': This one was made by Moby, so it's not the best collaboration ever,BUT this song is easy listening and has some nice/mellow sounds to it. And i admire her raspy vocals in this song. The first time i heard it, i hated it, but now it's kind of grown on me. And i've got to say it again, i like the way her voice sounds in this song. Not too bad. Toxic: This song is getting more and more airplay as we speak...read. Besides that hot video, this song sounds really hot too. Toxic is probably my fav. non-ballad britney song. The strings in the song are intoxicating and addicting as well as the 007/surf-ish kind of sound too. It has a cool techno sound to it too. I'm really pleased with this song:) Outrageous: This is another hip hop-ish song, as was "boom boom". Out of all the hip hop tracks she's done, even boys, this one is the best in my opinion. It has a cool eastern sound and the chorus is cool as well as the "la la la la la la la." Touch Of My Hand: I love the eastern vibe in this song. This is probably the most sensual song in addition to breathe on me. Her voice sounds really nice on this song...i can't find the right word to describe it...some people say she sounds like madonna on this song, but i wouldn't know. You'll have to listen to it yourself;) I like the instruments used in this song, very cool. The Hook Up: Here's a new one. This song is a reggae type song. At first i thought "whoah...reggae? this is gonna be weird?!?" But to my surprise i've found this song to very addicting, especially the chorus. This one also has an eastern tune to it, which I admire. This is a good song to groove to. Shadow: The first ballad on the cd. It's a dark-ish song, talking about missing someone and you only "see" their shadow instead of themself. It has very nice strings in it, which i truly admire and her vocals aren't soaring, but they are her own one of a kind vocals, and they sound nice especially at the climax. Great song, good lyrics, and good voice Brave New Girl: Ok, this seems like the only poppish song on here, and that's cool. Because none of the rest sound like it. This song is kind of a girl song, hints the name "brave new girl" , not that that's a bad thing though. Some say it reminds them of Hilary Duff and i've only heard two or three of her songs on the radio so i'll go with that. Everytime: This is the one. This song is my fav. britney spears song she's ever done. The song is haunting and her voice is so calm and innocent. The lyrics are heartfelt and kind of sad, thought i felt a tear...wait... :o what did i say?...She's written this song and made the tune of the song on the piano, so she is stepping up and that's good. I hope she writes more songs likes this ,cuz it sounds great. Sorry, but i'm gonna cheat on this one Song Rating: 12/10 ;) MATM Remix: it's a remix with an eastern sound. Not too much to say about it...but it sounds alright. This cd is actually not that bad, i'm looking forward to what she has next. I hope my review has helped anyone who is curious with Britney Spears's "In The Zone" cd.

Let me start off by prefacing that I am a huge britney fan. I have all her CDs. But I gotta say that this album is pretty mediocre. I have heard the album about 5 times and there are a few gems. The obvious one being "Me against the music". Others include "Breathe on me" and "Boom Boom". The remainder of songs are average at best. I find that I will often skip alot of the other songs on the ablum. I believe that most Non-Britney fans will likely be quite disappointed in the album. Really wish I could give it a higher rating but I am honestly disappointed in the album overall.Hopefully the next album will be back up to Britneys usual high standards. Rock on!!

It has been two years since Britney has shown the world what she can actually do. With this new album, it basically sums up her current emotions that she is going through. She co-wrote 7 tracks off the album as well. With 'Me Against The Music' already out in high rotation, the song basically sets the mood for the rest of the album. This album can be described simply as 'trancy' There are very few slow ballads on the album. Britney also had to opporatunity to work with some of the best producers out there (P Diddy, R Kelly, Moby) One thing that sets 'In The Zone' apart from the others is the sexual presence during the album. You can tell all through the album. If you love Britney, or even hate her, this album is for all!

I just bought the album years after its been released and I must say I like it better than Blackout and Circus (thought I love them in their own right) Here she is confident, sexual and her voice sounds fantastic. The album cover is also beautiful! The blue tones and the way she looks in the camera shows a mature but sexy women. Songs like Breathe On Me, Shadow, Toxic, Everytime, Me Against the Music and Touch of My Hand are the album highlights! A must have for any Britney fan if you want her at not only musically but emotionally at her best in my opinion.
