Don't miss this first season! It sets the tone for the following seasons. It is not essential, but I highly recommmend it. It is "pretty, pretty good".

Curb Your Enthusiam is by far the funniest show I have ever seen. I have never laughed so much in my life. Larry David is a comedic genious,some of the situations he gets himself into are unbelievable. Some people say it is like Seinfeld,I say its ten times better and I loved Seinfeld. Without a doubt you should buy this dvd.

I noticed several people gave this 1 star and found nothing funny about it. Now I can picture out of all my aquaintances who would be the ones that found nothing to laugh at. For this reason I am giving it a Six. I think about this show during the day, and find the casting inspirational. I love Jeff and Susie and Larry's wife. I have been scouring the local rental place trying to get all the episodes, as I am not a DVD purchaser. Now I must look into Larry's politics, cause I am likely the exact opposite in most regards. Very, very funny. There is nothing better than laughing.

ive been a fan of curb your enthusiasm for about the last 2 seasons of the show. from what i saw it was laugh out loud hilarious. so, naturally, when this came out i had to have it. i went out and shelled out [$$] for it. the ride home i was playing with the case, which is the BEST DVD CASE EVER, and earns this review one star.

so i get home and pop disc one into my dvd player, but not before i went to the bathroom. i thought that if i had a full bladder i might piss myself. this. however, was not the case. i was extremely let down by the quality of the episodes, they just werent that funny. i just wasnt laughing.

my suggestion: wait for season 3 and 4 to come out, then buy those... but leave this one alone unless youre buying it for the case, for which i couldn't blame you.

Yea it's damn funny to watch Larry David walk around LA and getting stuck in the middle of problems. But consider this, if it is $26.99 for 10 episodes that's almost $2.70 per episode. I could see spending that much for a set with lots of extras and s*** like that, but where are they? I don't see them anywhere. It is much easier and cheaper to download them online. For those out there that are die hard Curb fans this may be for you. Others I advise against buying it.

This product was perfect. It shipped very fast and the condition of the package and discs was in tip top shape! It was pretty pretty pretty pretty pretty pretty good!

perfect for me, I rented the 1st season after catching an episode at my girlfriend's place and decided that I wanted to see more. This is not what I expected though. CYE is not really about anything, just the rambling of this man, Larry David who co-created Seinfeld. The characters in here are memorable; the interesting but not really surprising thing about this is that the plot is the only thing that is scripted, nothing else, which allows a lot of improvisation, which is what makes the situations seem more real, Larry David reminds me of my dad so much it is scary, anyway, I guess if you have HBO, catch an episode and see if you like it, if you don't rent it, and then if you like it, buy it.

Curb Your Enthusiasm is easily one of the funniest shows on cable television, and this first batch of episodes is the perfect example of why it has become as popular as it is.

If you have a neurotic or paranoid friend (and most of us do), then Larry David will instantly remind you of him or her. While the George character in Seinfeld was patterned after Larry David, the funny thing here is that Larry David here is extremely successful from the hit Seinfeld TV show, so you wonder why he worries so much about things that shouldn't even matter! I guess that's what makes this show so funny.

Not only is the first season littered with some of the best episodes (Ted and Mary, Porno Gil, etc.), they also provide some of the greatest quotable lines from Larry and the rest of his supporting cast. Cheryl Hines, who plays Larry's wife, was a stroke of genius in terms of casting (the cold, hard stares she throws in Larry's direction are priceless), and Jeff's wife is a fireball of expletive poetry who could quiet Tony Soprano on his worst day.

The DVD comes with the hour-long special that preceded the actual series, so if you pick this up, be sure to watch that first, since I think that it's referenced a couple times throughout the season, althought that might've happened later in Season 2. You also get an interview between Larry David and Bob Costas, which is pretty uncomfortable at times, but provides for some decent info. Finally, there's a commentary for the first episode, which is pretty funny, but don't expect Criterion-caliber here. Larry talks on this track about as much as Robert DeNiro does on his commentary tracks: very little.

In the end, if you like the show, you've already bought this, but if you're curious about it, and love improvisational acting (like in This is Spinal Tap, Best in Show, or Waiting for Guffman), then you'll likely enjoy this. It's laugh-out-loud funny, painful to watch at times (in a good way), and is a good fix for those who miss the days of Seinfeld's reign on NBC.

Sure, the episodes were good. And when I first opened that box and figured out how it worked, I was pretty fascinated by its design. But this DVD doesn't really have anything out of the ordinary. Basically, it was put out for fans who loved the show. Larry David and co. thought they could make a few more bucks on the franchise, so the DVD was slapped together and a couple more million dollars were deposited in the bank. You've got all the episodes of Season One, an interview, and the inaugural special that started it all...and that's everything. So if you love CYE like me, buy it--but don't expect to be blown away.

...but i just had to respond to "a viewer from Los Angeles". He spent his whole review attacking Larry David's politics and said nothing about the DVD itself (wonder if he even watched it). I haven't seen the dvd either (though i did catch a few of the 2nd season episodes, and they were hilarious)but i feel he should have stuck to the contents of the dvd. If he wants to take shots at Larry David's politics there are plenty of other websites to do so. Please stick to the contents of the dvd and leave the politcs out of it.
