My favorite DMB studio album,

This is my favorite DMB studio album, but it should be noted that the DMB live albums are of better quality than the studio ones. Particular favorites on this album are Grey Street, Where Are You Going, Raven, Grace Is Gone, Big Eyed Fish. Bartender is a listless song in its debut here, made much better in later (live) albums.

grace is gone,

yeah this is a wicked awesome cd, but the song grace is gone is about God's Grace, not a person named Grace. If you like this, you should download the uncut version, the Lillywhite Sessions. Its basically all the songs before theyve been buffered and re-edited.

Half and Half,

I am hesitant to write a review of this album as I still don't have a firm opinion after almost two years of listening to it. Perhaps it's because I want to like it as much as I have liked all the other Dave Matthews Band albums. Off the top of my head I feel it is a mixed bag. There are some very good songs here. Grey Street, Where Are You Going, Raven, Grace is Gone and Bartender are of note. The rest just seem flat and uninspired. It is still much better than 95% of the stuff that is sold in record stores these days, so if you are thinking of buying it, do so. Just don't expect the quality of the other records in the DMB catalogue.

Worst album,

To think, this band could have ruled the world. And yet, here we are, churning out pale retreads of former glories. Stick with "Crash" and buy nothing else. If you really need to hear this, some flannel-wearing college student might loan it to you.

Dave Matthews Band on Auto Pilot,

This record is best summed up as Dave Matthews Band on autopilot. Not thats a bad thing, but you have just come to expect a little more from the DMB.I was one of those supporters of "Everyday", as long as it was a one time only type of album. So when I heard that DMB was going to release the widely bootlegged "The Lilywhite Sessions", which in its raw format is better than this version, I was really happy. But something went wrong on the way back to the studio. The raw emotions are all gone, and sadly missed, and some of the playing is actually lesser than on its Internet companion. Thats not to say that this is a bad record. One of the new songs, "Where Are You Going?", is an excellent addition, even though "You Never Know" is a lazy song that could ahve easily been left off. Also, both "Gray Street" and "Busted Stuff" would fit in easily with "Under the Table" and "Crash". The main problem with this I guess is two things: 1. I heard the Lilywhite sessions first. 2. There seems to be a begrudging vibe to all the songs, like "Alright, we'll release this, I guess". If you are new to DMB, then you should probably get one of the earlier records. If you are a DMB fan, like myself, then yo should LIKE this record, if not LOVE it.

Grey Street and nothing,

Busted Stuff is boring and unmotivated. It was rushed into release because the Lillywihte Sessions (the songs on this album) were released onto the internet and DMB wanted to profit from them. The result is a lot of bad songs with the the lone bright spot being Grey Street, a spectacular song that belongs on another better album. After two great albums, Busted Sutff marks the second of three straight disappointing albums. The ambivalent sounds that made DMB so famous seem to be replaced by disjointed background sounds that make me nervous not relaxed. Don't waste your money on this album: get Some Devil and the bonus disc has a great live version of Grey Street, as well as the hard to find Seek Up.

This is one of DMB's better albums. Here is a review of all the songs:Busted Stuff-Great song, with good lyrics and a fun beat. A good, upbeat song to start of the album. 5/5 Grey Street-Great song. Great lyrics. It has an amazing tune, and with great vocals to back it up, it is one of the best songs on the cd. 5/5 Where Are You Going-The single off of this album. It was made for the movie Mr. Deeds. Anyway, this song is pretty good, but real slow. You sort of have to be in the mood for this one. 5/5 You Never Know-A terrific song with a terrific message. Great vocals and lyrics make up this very, very good song. Also, Boyd plays extremely well on this song. 5/5 Captain-Pretty good song. The saxophone is really good, and the lyrics are ok. 4/5 Raven-Great sax. This is an ok song, but nothing really special here. By the way, has anyone ever noticed that this seems to be the end of #34? Pretty good. 4/5 Grace is Gone-Great song. This song is about a lost girlfriend, and the lyrics and vocals enforce this. The guitar is great, and they all come together for an amazing song. 5/5 Kit Kat Jam-This is a really fun song to listen to. It has no words, like #34, but #34 is beautiful, and Kit Kat Jam is fun. It's a matter of taste. But this song is great. 5/5 Digging A Ditch-Oh my. This song is PAINFULLY slow. It seems to drone on and on and on. The worst song on this album by far, but all of the other songs are great. This isn't. 2.5/5 Big Eyed Fish-Kinda sounds like it should be on Before These Crowded Streets. These lyrics might seem silly, but they really do have a meaning. This is also a good song to listen to and won't have you bored. 5/5 Bartender-Probably the best song on this album. It has religious lyrics like Christmas Song, and has great vocals from Dave. The violin is fantastic, and this entire song is one of DMB's best overall and for sure on this cd. This is an absolutely amazing song, give it a chance. 5/5 Overall, this cd is just incredible. It is one of the best DMB cds, and you will certainly not be wasting your money buying it. Thanks for your time.

DMB continues to plummet in the studio,
Ce commentaire est de: Busted Stuff (Audio CD)
DMB is the first band of which I could say I truly loved their entire repertoire and their work as a whole (as opposed to only liking select songs from a group). That is, up until Everyday came along. From then on, I've been disappointed not only by their studio work but with their live shows as well. I can't help feeling like they've given up on themselves as creative, intellectually stimulating artists. It's a pathetic death and this album, despite the value of these songs live, seems to solidify it. "Captain" and "Raven" are hollow remanents of what they once were, and "Grey Street" and "Digging a Ditch" are the only redeemable qualities this album retains (though pre-release, live verisions of "Grey Street" in '00 and '01 are more captivating and feature ever-changing lyrics. And what happened to "Sweet Up & Down," with all of its wonderful scatting? A great live song that for some reason - probably lack of formulation and coherency - didn't make it on the album.) Otherwise, this album is downright bland, though at least it has a bit more depth than Everyday.
