3.0 out of 5 stars Cliched but not so bad!!!
Cold Creek Manor is as cliched as they get. A near accident forces NYC family to move to peaceful, idyllic suburbia. They move into the 'perfect' house, which has its share of not so perfect secrets. From there, it gets all the more predictable. So why didn't I hate this movie? The cast for one. Dennis Quaid was pretty good as the patriarch, and it was great seeing Sharon...

this movie is about a family that moves into what they believe will be
their dream home.it is old and falling apart, but they believe that once
they fix it up,it will be the home they've always wanted.sounds alright
so far.however, they notice something strange.when they move in the
house is filled with possessions of the previous owners.then weird
thongs begin to happen.they discover the house holds a dark secret.and
someone else decides the house belongs to them.Sharon Stone and Dennis
Quaid play Cooper and Leah Tilson, the proud new owners.Stephen Dorrf is
also in the film as is Juliette Lewis. The film is directed by Mike
Figgis.it is a psychological suspense thriller, with out a lot of gore
and graphic violence.a rare treat in these days of slice'em
dice'em,hack and slash movies.this movie has a very eerie atmosphere
throughout and works well as a ghost story.if you want some genuine
chills,i recommend Cold Creek Manor. 4/5

1.0 out of 5 stars COLD DEAD MOVIE, Aug 13 2004
By
This review is from: Cold Creek Manor (DVD)
SADLY THIS PROMISING IDEA FOR A THRILLER HITS THE GROUND HARDER THAN STEPHEN DORFFS CAREER WILL IF HE KEEPS DOING MOVIES LIKE THIS ONE. DORFF IS GIVEN THE WORST CHARACTER PREMISE IMAGINABLE, ONE THAT STARTS OUT LIKE IT COULD REALLY GO SOMEWHERE AND INSTEAD COLLAPSES IN A HEAP OF BAD DIALOUGE AND MOTIVATION. DORFFS CHARACTERS BACK STORY WOULD HAVE MADE A MUCH MORE ENTERTAING MOVIE THAN THIS SORRY EFFORT WICH IS WAY TO LONG TO GET TO A VERY PREDICTABLE CONCLUSION. FANS OF DORFF STEER CLEAR OF THIS MOVIE AS IT WILL NOT IMPRESS COMPARED TO HIS OTHER WORK. SHARON STONE AND DENNIS QUAID ALSO DESERVE TO BE IN ANOTHER MOVIE, SADLY THEY DESERVE EVEN LESS THAN WHAT COLD CREEK MANOR DELIVERS.

1.0 out of 5 stars Great Unintentional Comedy, July 13 2004
This review is from: Cold Creek Manor (DVD)
Not too many thrills in this thriller, but as an unintentional comedy it's aces. Fans of bad movies will love this DVD to death, particularly the deleted scenes which include Dennis Quaid as pool shark humiliating the Massey character. Stephen Dorff flares his nostrils menacingly while strutting around shirtless, oiled up, and chewing the scenery like a starving man. Several laugh-out-loud moments throughout this film. Indeed the only thing missing is Joel and the 'bots in the lower right-hand corner of the screen.

4.0 out of 5 stars Give it a chance, Don't listen to hearsay, July 13 2004

Cold Creek Manor I thought was a fairly decent movie. Don't read some of these other people's reviews and make a decision based on their opinions. Truth is maybe it was a little slow paced but there was a good story behind it. I think you should watch this movie and see what you think. Afterall no one's opinion matters except yours. As long as you like it who cares what others think.

1.0 out of 5 stars UNSPEAKABLY BAD, July 11 2004
This review is from: Cold Creek Manor (DVD)
If only I had checked reviews here before wasting money to see this bomb. This is one of the worst movies ever made. How can a director possibly go wrong with the trio of Dennis Quaid, Sharon Stone, and Juliette Lewis? The dialogue is ridiculous, the plot is dumb, and the acting alternates between stilted and over the top. The editor must have gone on vacation because there were lots of loose ends and scenarios that didn't make sense. A few examples: Nude photos of her extramarital tryst with her boss were left lying around the house seemingly for anyone to view including strangers and their kids. Quaid discovers the photos and acts like he's perusing a circular he just received in the mail. A creep claiming to be the previous owner shows up and they just let him in the house to have dinner, no questions asked. Juliette Lewis is wasted here with no character development and no dialogue beyond boozy profanity. The character of the female sheriff was made to look incompetent and redneck beyond belief. Quaid, Stone, and Lewis are proven pros - let's hope they find work more befitting their talents in the future.

2.0 out of 5 stars WHOS OUT BACK?, Jun 29 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Cold Creek Manor (DVD)
Well, Sharon Stone and her hubby buy a house thats real run down. While fixin it up the kid that used to live there gets out of jail. He walks right in to the house without an invite looks around and starts eating thier dinner. They just sit there with there jaws slack and then.... they give him a job of fixin up the old place. Its obvious he is a nut so he goes over to juliete
lewis trailer and has his way with her over and over. Sooo he soon starts to kill animals and put snakes in thier clothes and stuff like that but they can't fiqure it out so they give him a raise. Later after the pieces of several murders come to light he wants to kill them, big surprize. The cops are baffeled and denny quiad and Ms. Stone hafta bust him in the gord. AT the end the house is freshly painted and a chorus of angels are singing. But julie Lewis still loves the guy even though he is dead so she puts flowers on an unmarked grave... fade to black

1.0 out of 5 stars Disgusting...Do Not Watch This Movie...Avoid, Jun 23 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Cold Creek Manor (DVD)
This movie is horrible. From the outset, it lacks any moral integrity. This movie should not be watched by adults or children. The language is beyond foul, as is other scenes in the movie. The bad thing about it is that children acted in this movie being exposed to that kind of garbage. What kind of parents do we have out there that would allow there kids to act in such a film? Additionally, the film is bad in and of itself.
Avoid!

1.0 out of 5 stars A Masterpiece!, Jun 13 2004

If you are a cinema afficianado, you must possess this film
(I see there are a lot of used copies available at low price).
Why? Because we know how hard it is for movie buffs to come to any consensus on the top 5 or even top 10 films of the past quarter century. But you can be an instant celebrity
when talk gets around to the WORST films of the past
quarter century. This may indeed be Number One! And you don't even need to cut fine hairs, i.e. "most over-hyped bad
film" - "Blair Witch Project", etc. Here you can go for the whole baloney and hold your head high.

I won't go into why this film is so bad. Words fail me. It has to be seen. I will say one thing: one can argue that even most very bad films had some kind of an "idea" at the outset, something for the story boards. Here: zilch (oh, I guess I'm exagerating - here's the preproduction story line:
"city slickers buy a haunted house in the rural burbs and bad things happen to them." Now, that's originality for you.

Other than that, everything is MARVELOUSLY TERRIBLE: the acting, the special effects, the logic, the beginning the
middle and the ending. And not even a cheap thrill in the
way of some hot sex or (partial) nudity.

Wait a minute...a correction. I said at the outset of this "review" that every serious film buff should own this film.
I take it back: I wouldn't want those connected with this turkey to either reap financial benefit or worse yet thing that
DVD sales prove the film has some merit. So maybe one or
two of you can buy used copies and circulate them widely.
Finally a VIEWER ALERT: this film has found its way onto pay per view in some places (it was on my local Comcast).
