Great movie,
By Holden (Ontario Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Love That Boy (DVD)
What a pleasant movie. Phoebe is very funny as the ultimate type A personality. Even though she really grinds on you there is something about her that is very likable. Phoebe is played by Toronto actress Nadia Litz, and her acting is superb. In the film 21 year old Pheobe, who is just preparing to graduate falls in love with 14 year old Frazer, played by Nova Scotia actor Adrien Dixon. Through simple scenes, (watching stars together, making a flower wreath as a crown, etc, we see the two characters coming of age and falling in love. The resulting story is tender and sweet. Frazer's little sister is also funny. I liked this movie a lot, its very quiet and understated. This Canadian film was made on a very small budget, but every shot, is excellent. I liked the look of the film, the lighting was good, even in night scenes. The DVD also has some extras on it including a short film. I'd recommend you consider buying it, but at the very least rent it, you won't regret your decision. Also Amazon.ca should get a picture of the DVD box up on the site.

Rare wit and romance flick,
By A Customer
This review is from: Love That Boy (DVD)
It's been a while since I've enjoyed a good witty romance (Singles and Chasing Amy being others), but this one was right on. About a list-obsessed, perfectionist college girl ("Things To Do Before I Graduate") whose world, of course, is turned on its head. Typical plot, but well handled and the story moves along quite well, avoiding get bogged down in romantic details or drama. I'm buying a couple of copies for my type-A friends who I'm sure will see a bit of themselves and have a good laugh and a touching moment or two.

A Must-see, If you're in need of a bitter drama/romance!,
This review is from: Love That Boy (DVD)
I'm not so sure if this is right movie review, seeing as there wasn't any image, but I'm pretty sure there's not many other movies out there by this name, so here I go.An over-achieving college student, Phoebe, decides that it's time she lightened up a bit after he best-friend abandons her to go on a "soul-searching adventure" with a guy she met on a flight home. She gets way more that she bargains for, though, when she suddenly falls for her much younger (he's 14 by the way), much less sophisticated neighbour. Surprisingly, the feeling's mutual, and their relationship seems to bud, much to the dismay of Phoebe's close friends (well not so close anymore). But it's not just "happily-ever-after" from there. There's the jealous younger neighbour who's fancied Phoebe's new boyfriend for years, but has recently just stopped playing hard to get. Then there's the conflicting emotions on both accounts, but they eventually work them out. If you're looking for a heavy romance or steamy sex scenes, this movie isn't for you. Right touch of sweetness with a bit of sarcasm, jealousy and lousy so-called best friends and TADA! You've got yourself a very worthwhile drama (not the best, mind you). If I think this is a good movie, you will too, because usually I shy away from the movies directed by directors I hardly recognise, in other words, I only watch the best. A must-see.

Very enjoyable little story. Well acted and nicely put together.{Filmed in our neighbourhood (my house is in the background of several scenes) it was fun to watch being filmed and meeting the cast (including Ellen Page) and crew.} |
