This is a Mega Man fan's dream,
By
This review is from: Mega Man Anniversary Collection (Video Game)
Mega Man Anniversary Collection contains 10 games from the blue bomber's past. It contains Mega Man 1-6 originaly for the original NES, Mega Man 7 originaly for the Super NES, Mega Man 8 originally for the PlayStation and Sega Saturn, and 2 Mega Man arcade games that were never released in the US before. I am pretty sure all of the games have their original graphics, but they have improved the sound quality. The disk also contains some extras, some of which are exclusive to the GameCube version of the game and some of which are exclusive to the PS2 version. If you grew up with these games like I did, this is a must buy. A piece of childhood where graphics were simple and that was just fine with us.

I've only owned 3 since this came out Megaman games(Megaman Legends,Megaman8,and Megaman battle network 3.) And I go on amazon and here it comes, in front of my eyes! GRAPHICS8/10 My aunt owned a NES and let me play megaman and everything looks the same.Still the 8-bit megaman. SOUND9/10 The sound is great except in Megaman8. They changed it all from the PS1 version. FUN10/10 This game is great fun and I recommend it to any megaman fan. (Megaman power battle rocks on high!!!!!!!) I finally figured out how to unlock it but I'm keeping it a secret. CONTROLS10/10 I know Capcom switched the controls and it took a little practice, but don't let that stop you from playing.(Everybody, STOP COMPLAINING ABOUT THE CONTROLS!!!!!!!!!Thank you.) This is a very great game and if you missed out on megaman, buy it now! Thanks, Capcom!Thank you for everything!

This game has all the old Mega Man series from Nintendo to Playstation, I mean seriously, if you buy this game, obviously you want to relive them good old days when you were young and Nintendo controllers were almost indestructible, some Mega Man games were hard, but that's the beauty of it, it was hard, because it was so simple, this collector makes you relive a bit of the old days, and that's what is really fun about this game, there are some extras that's worth seeing or worth playing also.

An almost flaw-less collection!,

Of all the Mega Man games nothing beats the classic series, and the collection has all eight classic games on one disk. Two unreleased arcade games are also included. All eight games are almost perfect ports of the NES, SNES, and playstation games. The only parts that have been changed are the control setup (B is now jump, A is fire, X is rapid fire, and Y is slide)and the addition of the Navi mode which alerts you of danger, displays your health and special weapons, and it turns on new music in the playstation2 version. Overall the Mega Man Anniversary Collection is a great buy at only $29.99.P.S. This game is actually rated E for Everyone, not Teen like it is displayed on this webesite.

I really, really enjoy Megaman, and thats why I bought this game but, now I regret it! When I bought this game I thought I was buying gold. Instead, I bought a peice of CRAP! First of all this game does not support any stereo or surround sound, it's just mono. Second of all! the controls don't make any sense. You have to use the "B" botton to jump and the "A" botton to shoot. I have no idea why Capcom did that but, I guess it would take getting use to. Third of all! On Megaman 8 you can hardley hear the voices of the characters. The voices on the cut scenes also have problems. They sound like they're talking in front of fans(air fans). Honestly the Megaman 8 for the oringinal Playstation was much better than this. The music(wich G4 terriblie remixed)and 2 extra games are what keeps me from giving it a 1 out of 5.

Button configuration makes sense, if you think about it,

Like 99% of the reviewers below, I was at first stymied and annoyed by Capcom's choice to make the A button shoot and the B button jump, a set-up that goes against the last 20 years of video gaming. However, I started to think of the alternative: Since the rapid-fire button is above the fire button, that means if A fired, you'd have to switch fingers to go from single shot to rapid fire. Capcom simply was trying to keep the two fire buttons together, and it works, after a few minutes to get used to it. Now that that's out of the way, the game: I believe that the first three Mega Man games are three of the best video games of all time, and certainly three of the top 20 platform games ever. The quality starts to slide after that (sometimes in graphics, always in playability), but this disc is worth having for the first three games alone. The variety is the reason Mega Man is so fun. One screen might be filled with small enemies to attack; scroll over and there's a jumping challenge with disappearing platforms; the next screen has a large mini-boss; then there's a tall obstacle you have to find a way to get over, etc. It's not just mindless, dull jumping and shooting - the levels are expertly designed. The sound and music also stands out. The tunes are insanely catchy, and I love the chirping sound Mega Man makes when he lands after a jump. Of course the novel idea behind Mega Man is choosing the order of the bosses you fight and using their own weapons against the next boss. Finding out that one weapon that destroys a certain boss when nothing else makes a dent is hugely satisfying. I was disappointed that some of the "bugs" have been fixed, such as the pause trick that let you kill bosses more easily in the first game... I'm not sure I will be able to finish that game without it. But I'm glad the flicker and slowdown is gone. Overall, this is an awesome package, and it's PRICED RIGHT (see Nintendo's current GameBoy Advance Classics series for an example of how not to price 20-year-old games). Gamers who grew up in the late 1980s should be ashamed not to have this game in their collections.

The Blue Bomber the way he should be,
This review is from: Mega Man Anniversary Collection (Video Game)
This is pure entertainment. Something about this nostalgia is incredible! Mega Man has never had any better adventures than in his 2-D sidescrolling world. This Megaman Anniversary collection depicts his first 8 adventures. The port is a re-release. Unchanged and untarnished. The game centers on Megaman who is running around saving the world from the likes of Dr. Wiley. This is the foundation that Megaman was built off of. When your adventure begins you select one of many bosses to go and battle. Each time you battle a boss you get a special weapon for Megaman that allows him to use his techniques. Each boss has their own weakness and part of the strategy of beating Megaman is figuring out which boss is weak to what weapon as well as the order to find them in. The graphics are the exact same as they were before. Even the weird glitches and such from the NES version are here. So it's all the same. If this bothers you then you may or may not enjoy Megaman Anniversary Edition. There are a few changes though. Controls are now easier. There is a now a short cut in accessing Megamans arsenal so that you don't have to open the menu each time. The game also has an "auto-save" feature so that you don't have to wrtie down all the passwords and such. Each version also features exclusive bonus material. The Gamecube version features interviews with the Producers of the series. Oddly enough its quite entertaining and interesting to watch. Megaman has changed over the years but this edition truly captures Megaman at his best! If you enjoy Megaman and have been playing his games since he debuted in 1987 you'll love this! Others may not find it as enjoyable as it is an "Old Skool" game.

Overall, this is an excellent release. I've cherished my original Megaman 1-5 NES carts like some people do rare baseball cards, and was naturally thrilled to pick up a gamecube version of all of those, plus a few more. Expecting Capcom to stay as close to the original releases as possible, I fired up Bomb Man's stage, and promptly discovered the most glaring error of all with this release. The jump and fire buttons have been reversed! In the old 8-bit glory days, everyone and their dog knew that A made you jump, and B made you shoot. Thank you, Capcom, for totally forgetting that. A is now fire, Y triple fire, X slide (in the later games), and B jump. If you cut your teeth and nursed your addiction with the classic 8-bit games, this takes considerable getting used to. Otherwise, the control is reproduced precisely. Megaman handles like a pig on ice in the original, as expected, and gains better control in each succeding release. The only other major errors I see are the lack of difficulty selection in Megaman 2, and the omission of the super-jump trick in MM3. Gone is the choice between normal and difficult, and instead you find yourself locked in difficult mode for MM2. By no means is this an insurmountable obsticle, but again it lacks the expected purity of the release. The same applies to MM3, although for the classic cheaters out there, it will make a run through MM3 a whole new experience. There may be others; I've only had the game for one night so far. While I'm glad I bought this, and will continue playing, some of these bugs and glitches could be seriously off-putting.

CAPCOM...... PARTY BOOPERS!!!,

This review is from: Mega Man Anniversary Collection (Video Game)
First of all, yes controls well.. no PROBLEM at ALL!!Quit complaining dont listen to reviewers who complain about controls, if thats a big deal to them then they are weak gamers(no offence),i got used to controls in two days honest, its not that bad.Now I have been a mega, mega man.....X for years it was the best i played it from 1-6(then got ruined by 7)i have also played mega man 8 which was kinda nice but not as good as the X series. The 2 mega man arcade games were coole 8 was great,7 was fine then the rest was all TOTAL CRAP!!i mean the bosses look kiddie and weak(cut man, stone man,air man,so dull..).Capcom had to ruin it by placing the original mega man which is the worst of all!!Honestly who would you rather play with, Zero or Proto man.But since i bought the game i would just go with the flow, hoping that someday capcom would come to its senses and make an X series collection. It does deserve 3 stars because of the 2 arcade games, bonus features and mega man 8 which was the best of all in my opinion.Man i thought capcom would be real wise..suggested only if you had played the series and enjoyed it!!
