One of the most consistant seasons of SP,
By
This review is from: South Park: The Complete Fourth Season (DVD)
As much as I love South Park, I must admit that, as a series, it lacks the kind of consistantly funny episodes that other similar series like 'Family Guy' boast. This is especially evident in season 5, which sports some of the series' all time highs and lows. Fortunately, the fourth season doesn't suffer from this problem. In my opinion, there are only two episodes that are even debatably great. "Pip", which really didn't have anything to do with anything,(It takes the South Park character, Pip, and places him in Dicken's "Great Expectations".) and "Helen Keller! The musical" which just plain wasn't a very funny episode. These two are merely exceptions, however, as the remaining 15 episodes of the season are all really funny. Moving in to the fourth season, the animation program used to create the show was changed, and so you'll notice that these episodes look more like a real animated cartoon than any of the previous seasons. For example, the "green rectangle" money is replaced scans of actual bills, and in general the show just plain looks better. Again, Trey Parker and Matt Stone are throwing in their "Commentary-Minis". Fans hoping that they'll switch over to full length commentary are gonna be waiting for a while, as both Trey and Matt are opposed to the idea of listening to someone egotistically ramble about their own show for half an hour. I guess they don't realize that that's what some fans want. Oh well, at least its better than season one and two. (Season one came with CDs [available on comedycentral.com...for free, I think...] that you had to rig up to play at the same time as the episodes on your DVD player for the commentary...And there was a LOT of awkward silence. And season two didn't come with any commentary at all.) Well, I definately recommend that any fan of the show, regardless of how many episodes you've seen, pick up this set. The fifth season on the other hand....well that's a whole 'nother review... Anyway, I hope this review was helpful to anyone "on the fence", deciding whether or not to pick this up. -Colin George

The best adult cartoon out there!,

This is the best adult cartoon that has ever been invented. I remember when I was a child I had to sneak behind my father's back if I wanted to watch this show. This show pushes the envelope like no other show has ever done before. The best part is that southpark is still strong.

My favorite season yet on dvd.,

I have never been a big fan of South Park, but really got into it when the season sets were released. I have seen the first three seasons, and while they are great, it only gets better in this season. The raunch and vulgarity you would expect from the show is even sharper in season 4, and you will find even more satire within the episodes. Ranging from issues such as race, government and boy bands, the creators of South Park spare no one. Many of my favorite episodes are contained in this set, a few being Cartman's Silly Hate Crime, Fat Camp, and Trapper Keeper. In Hate Crime, Cartman goes to prison for committing a crime against another race. Clearly pokes fun at the hate crime laws in this country with the message that crime is crime and should be punished accordingly. Many of the episode contain this kind of criticism and that is what makes the show much more than vulgar trash like some people think. Those are only 3 of my favorites though, and there are other classic episodes, NAMBLA definately being one. The only episode I don't care too much for is Pip, as it contains none of the South Park regulars. It isn't a horrible episode though. But as you can tell, the best episodes in my opinion are the Cartman-centric ones, as another reviewer put it. The DVD package we get is okay, but I know there are many more extras we could have and should have gotten. Essentially there are only the mini-commentaries on some episodes, but other than 17 great episodes there is nothing else really exciting in this whole set. This may disappoint some fans of the show, but I am just happy to own the complete season 4 that I can watch whenever I feel like doing so. I think if these sets were $10-$15 cheaper it would be a fair price, but I do feel like the $49.99 SRP is too high. Usually I would care, but this is South Park and this is a show worthy of being overpriced if there is any. So to wrap it up, I recommend saving your $$$ and buying this set, the best season released to dvd so far. 17 classic episodes are here that every South Park fan should own.

This review is from: South Park: The Complete Fourth Season (DVD)
For some of you that may not know, the fourth season of South Park was and always will be the best season ever. Here's the episodes and a description about them.1. Cartman's Silly Hate Crime: Cartman throws a rock at Token and goes to Juvie. There he meets a kid who always wanted to go to Disney World. 2. Tooth Fairy Tats 2000: The boys need quick cash and steal teeth to get money from the "Tooth Fairy". 3. Quintuplets 2000: The boys adopt quintuplets. 4. Timmy 2000: Timmy comes into the boys' class and joins a rock band with Stan's sister's ex-boyfriend. 5. Pip: Pip goes back to England and remenisces about old times he had there. 6. Cartman Joins NAMBLA: Cartman is too "mature" for the other kids and joins an organization with child molestors. There is a real NAMBLA, called "National Accosiation of Marlon Brando Look Alikes". 7. Cherokee Hair Tampons: Kyle becomes sick and needs a new kidney, and Cartman is his last hope. (a.k.a. The Cheech and Chong episode). 8. Chef Goes Nanners: (Never saw this episode, heard is good). 9. Something You Can Do With Your Finger: The boys start a boy band called "Fingerbang". 10. Do The Handicapped Go To Hell? (Part 1): The boys learn about confession and Saddam Hussein comes back into Satan's love life. 11. Probably (Part 2): Cartman teaches kids the joys of Christianity and Satan does it with Saddam...again! 12. Fourth Grade: The boys go to 4th grade and they hate their new teacher, Ms. Choksondik, while she goes on a quest to find the missing Mr. Garrison. 13. Trapper Keeper: Cartman gets a Dawson's Creek Trapper Keeper that holds a secret to destruction. 14. Helen Keller- The Musical: The kids make a play on Helen Keller, starring Timmy, for Thanksgiving. (Gobbles!!!) 15. Fat Camp: Cartman goes to fat camp while Kenny is famous for doing crazy things. 16. The Wacky Molestation: The kids get back at their parents for teaching them what molesting was. 17. A Very "Crappy" Christmas: Mr. Hankey teaches his family about how poop helps everyone. There you have it, all 17 legendary episodes of the greatest season of South Park. Viva La Risistance!

Contains my favorite episode!,

This review is from: South Park: The Complete Fourth Season (DVD)
This is one of the best seasons ever for the series. Other reviewers have broken down each episode, so I'll stick to my favorite...On this set is the insane episode where Cartman ends up making friends with members of NAMBLA (North American Man Boy Love Association). What makes this episode so funny is that NAMBLA is a group of pedophiles that meet to celebrate their love of sex with young boys. If that wasn't enough, NAMBLA is a REAL organization. Leave it to Matt and Trey to expose such dark things about America with humor...pure brilliance! Plus, most of the shows feature Cartman, which is always good. While I've got your attention, I want to also recommend a music CD for fans of instrumental music. Check out Mr.Deviant's "Techno Obsession" which is a killer of power rock and hard dance music.

17 episodes in this season and not a bad one in the bunch. Simply put, the BEST SEASON of South Park so far.As always excellent artwork on the case and the discs are held firmly in place. As in the previous season (3rd) they removed the subtitles for some reason and gave absolutely no special features. Regardless pick this one up and laugh yourself silly

South park season 4 was aired on the new millenium ,year 2000 and contains 17 classic episodes.During that season south park matured as there are more pop culture reference instead of the pe-pe humor from the first seasons and it does south park good! Why is this such a great season?so many aspects! One of em is Timmy he is one of the most adored south park characters he is so funny and awesome they actually made stories with a guy that can only say his name, gotta give trey and matt credit. The Timmy episodes rule!He is so funny. The season 4 got something weird, the first few episodes finish by 2000s like timmy 2000 wich is weird. There is 3 discs as usual. I think that some of the best episodes are `something you can do with your finger`when the boys make a boy band,`fat camp` when cartman gets sent to fat camp,i love `cartman`s silly hate crime`2000`its awesome and `timmy2000`rules!timmy gets in a band as lead singer,`cartman joins nambala`is also great. But pretty much all the episodes are great. The 4rth season of south park was the first season after the movie `bigger, longer and uncut`wich lead to a different south park. They followed the movie with that great season, the movie changed south park a bit and give it more experience the episodes on season 4 are; disc 1 402-The tooth fairy tats 2000 401-Cartman`s sily hate crime 2000 404-Timmy 2000 403-Quintuplets 2000 406-Cartman joins nambala 407-Cherokee hair tampons disc 2 408-Chef goes naners 409-Something you can do with your finger 410-Do the handiccaped go to hell? 411-Probably 412-Fourth grade 413-Trapper keeper disc 3 414-Hellen keller!the musical 405-Pip 415-Fat camp 416-The wacky molestation adventure 417-A very crappy christmas All the season long Cartman wants to get 10 milion dollards and he tries uncessesfully by making a boy band, becoming evengelist and more, none of them worked very well but he did get that money while becoming evengelist but he has to give it back so the 10 milions didnt work, poor cartman!Evrybody seems to like Nambla wich is a great episode The is the two part episode `does the handicaped go to hell?/probably`sort of mini-movie.Sadam hussein comes back to see satan but satan already has a new boyfriend `chris`and has to decide between the two as theyre killing each other and satan looks to god for advice.Meanwhile, cartman and the kids try to protect themselves and timmy from going to hell. The season 4 i think is underrated, the rewiewers give good votes, but the fans doesnt give it as much respect they should its clearly one of the best seasons. As usual there are poor special features short comentaries that are good, and prewiews so dont think its changed. So all the season is pretty good and the box set is worth what you pay for, outstanding episodes here. The special features doesnt impress.Overall this one of south park`s best seasons. Recomended to the fans!

Season four is the funniest season of them all. Get ready to loose bowl control because this season has the brown noise. All the episodes are great and hopefully there will be some good special features and not the stupid Promos. Or maybe Matt and Trey entertaining at the senior citizen home. (Well I am your best friend till the very end, till the grim reaper comes for you.) I am going to kick sqaw in the nuts if you dont buy Season four.

The insanity and hilarity continue,
By
This review is from: South Park: The Complete Fourth Season (DVD)
While the fourth season of South Park doesn't live up to the breakthrough brilliant hilarity of the previous seasons or the feature film that came before it, the fourth season is important nontheless. The gang (Stan, Kyle, Cartman, and Kenny) move up to the fourth grade, and a new character is introduced that most fans of the series came to love: the wheelchair bound Timmy who is only capable of saying his name. The boys also form their own boy band, and the truth about Mr. Garrison is finally revealed once and for all. Still totally offensive and irreverant, the fourth season of South Park pulls no punches and still comes up a winner just as it as during it's entire series run. Series creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker offer up another "mini-commentary" on the episodes, which is worth the price of admission here alone.
