You won't beleive his voice!,
This review is from: Two Shots (W/1 Bonus Track) (Audio CD)
Being an avid fan of Jazz music and vocals, I wasn't sure what to expect out of this CD...but what I heard far surpassed my expectations. The title track brings together incredible vocals and great work from the Toronto Symphony Orchestra. Dusk puts his own spin on The Beatles' "Please Please Me", creating an introspective, somewhat remorseful tune, working with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. Along with originals from Dusk, he pays homage to jazz greats of the past with a crisp rendition of Bart Howard's "Fly Me to the Moon". I was looking for someone who could provide a bit of the Rat Pack nostalgia, and this CD does the trick. I defintely recommend this CD for fans of any kind of music...Jazz, Swing, AC, anything. Whatever your tune is, Matt Dusk can sing it.

One listen to "Two Shots" and I believed in that voice, and one listen to the CD and I was completely hooked. He's got the voice, the songs, the musicians, and the presentation that make this CD a work of art. It's a must-have!

Miracle-what else can I say?,

Matt Dusk is an awesome singer with his jazzy way of performing. Running across this cd was one of the best things that could have happened to me- for the music is stunning. Yes, many of the songs may have been written by other singers, but it's his new twists on them that make this cd fun. It surely is worth your consideration.

A New Face For Jazz,

Many modern artists who try their luck with jazz find themselves with one catchy song that is played out while the rest of their album is dry and tasteless, however after buying Matt Dusk's "Two Shots" I immediently placed Dusk at the top of my favorite artists alongside of Sinatra, Crosby, Martin, and Elvis Presley. Dusk's entire album is a mood setting experience that you will enjoy many times over. I often find myself putting my stereo on repeat and just laying back all night enjoying the smooth sound of the piano and soulful melodies. This is an album you will most definitly want in your stereo as well, wether your enjoying romantic dinners with a special someone or just getting ready to go to work, "Two Shots" is the record to listen to.

"Don't Go Looking" anywhere else,
This review is from: Two Shots (W/1 Bonus Track) (Audio CD)
Smooth. Deep. Sophisticated. Sexy. It's hard to believe that a relatively young guy this day in age can sing with all these qualities. With the abundance of hip hop and pop, Matt Dusk offers a fresh new take on what to listen to. Once you hear a couple of his jazzy/easy listening tracks, particularly "Don't Go Looking" and "Precious Years" (2 of my personal favorites) you'll be amazed at the quality of his voice. A couple of his other tracks "Please Please Me" and "Two Shots of Happy, One Shot of Sad" may seem a little familiar considering the first song was a Beatles song and the second, a song Bono (yes as in...Bono from U2) wrote as a tribute for Frank Sinatra. So for all you Bono, Beatles, and Sinatra fans alike- you too should also definitely check out Matt Dusk's album!

Enjoyable, but not anywhere near as effective as I thought he might me. Dusks sincerity didn't resonate with me. It may be that many of these songs were not of his choice?

This Guy's Got It,

Now that Sinatra is gone and Tony Bennett, while still a terrific singer, is well into his seventies, it's great that singers like Michael Buble and Matt Dusk have come along. The voice is terrific, and he really gets into these songs, most of which are new to me. Like Sinatra and Bennett, he makes each song a personal drama. Also like them, he has a terrific ability to express emotion with his voice and his interpretations. Yet he is his own person, doing things his own way, and not a pale imitation of anybody, past or present. For a singer this young to sing with such assurance and artistry is remarkable. I'd love to hear him record an album of standards.

If anyone is contemplating on buying this CD, please do not hesitate. Its one of the greatest CD's made and Matt Dusk is awesome. A quick rising star since Sinatra and the voice to prove it. I saw him in person and he is great. Love this music and would buy again from him. Please, get this CD, you won't be sorry. A++++++ MATT DUSK IS THE BEST.

One shot of disappointment...,
By Sonya (Vancouver, British Columbia Canada) - See all my reviews

I had been eagerly anticipating the release of Two Shots for some time after hearing Matt Dusk on a jazz compilation. When it finally arrived, I popped it into my CD player and listened to the album twice - from beginning to end. While I love the richness and texture of Matt Dusk's voice, his phrasing and singing at times were a bit shakey - like he was trying to hard for Sinatra-esque swing and swagger. I found some of the original compositions to be a bit schmaltzy, the interpretation of 'Please, Please Me' to be grating, and the dance remix to be completely unnecessary. Perhaps, this is a CD to be put away on a shelf and re-discovered at a latter date. Regardless, I look forward to Dusk's 2nd album because it can only get better.
