Embrace The Flats!,

I was shocked, surprised and flabbergasted by the negative reviews I see on the web, I thought that Disney's final 2-D film happens to be one of their best works yet; and also I love a good western film. The animation and backgrounds are pretty, it has a retro appeal to it like some of the other Disney Classics...from the 1950s that is. The film also has an excellent soundtrack with some of today's best Country artists like : k.d Lang,Bonnie Rait and Tim McGraw. The characters are very appealing too; my favorites being Buck, Lucky Jack and Grace. I was also shocked in finding out that this film will be the last 2-D film from Disney. I have always loved the classic 2-D films ever since I was little and I always will; I mean 3-D's great and all but it's not like fascinating and beautiful as 2-D. So I say those of you who love 2-D feature films like me, I say "EMBRACE THE FLATS, PEOPLE!" Overall I give this film two thumbs up.

Well, traditionally-animated movies by Disney went out not with a bang, not with a wimper, but something along the lines of a giggle, and with Home on the Range, the once proud Walt Disney Studios enters the frightening world of burp-and-bathroom-humor kids' movies. The House That Mickey Built seemed to just copy themes from other films and make a new movie out of them: the basic premises (save the farm, would-be heroes) have been seen several times before. Humor goes to the dogs....er, cows, with crude humor (including a Disney limit-pushing quirk at udders). The animation, aside from the ocasionally gorgeous backgrounds, is pure lazy, and the cartoon cattle bear little resemblence to real livestock. In conclusion, Disney needs to take a hint from Pixar and get back to doing what it does best: making original and entertaining movies for the whole family.

traditional style animation from Disney (3.5/5),

this animated movie is actually pretty entertaining.there's anabundance of action,a good villain, and a couple of very funny scenes.the movie is sort of a cartoon western, done in the traditional animation style.there is lots to keep the viewer entertained.kids should like it,and adults will probably enjoy it as well.the good thing about this movie is it has a good story, and is well paced.there are even some musical numbers,(of course this is not surprising, since most Disney movies do contain a musical element)for people who might like musicals."Home on the Range has something for everyone, although some of the action might be a bit intense for very young children.all in all, a very good effort from Disney. 3.5/5

Not the best, but far from the worst.,

The state of animation at Disney is no where near as awful as most critics would have you believe. However, what is awful is that the company is abandoning the traditional animation market, a market that single-handedly saved the company in the early 90's. The final traditionally animated movie from the company was "Home on the Range" and it's obvious that the company simply didn't care anymore. Fortunately, the filmmakers did. "Home on the Range", while far from the delirious heights of the best Disney movies, is still a fast-paced entertaining film with bright visuals and vivid characterizations. Interestingly enough, the movie that most resembles "Home On the Range" isn't another Disney movie, it's "An American Tail: Fievel Goes West". Both movies have a very similar color scheme and are more comedy than old-fashioned western. "Home on the Range" may not make your spirit soar, but it provides some solid laughs and a very enjoyable outing at the movies.

GARBAGE,
By FRANK PETERSEN (Staten Island) - See all my reviews

This movie is an OFFENSE to the wonderful Disney movies that were made up until Mulan. Everything after the wonderful Mulan, has been nothing but garbage. Treasure Planet was awful. Brother Bear was even WORST! And now comes this. Who is in charge at Disney? Who has been coming up with these awful new ideas for an animated feature? There are so many other fairy tales Disney can breathe new life into. Yet they come up with garbage like Lilo & Stitch? and Home on the Range? I just dont understand! Now because these movies bombed, Disney has decided that Home on the Range will be the last 2D animated feature. I read they plan on making Rapunzel, computer generated! Can you imagine how wonderful Rapunzel can be? But Disney will ruin that, by making it all CGI. It just makes me very angry. My advice to all of you, is to not make this purchase. Roseanne Barr's voice is horrible as it is. To hear her lend it to an animated cow in Home on the Range, is enough to make you want to purge.
