The official editorial review neglects to mention that although this DVD is titled as "Season 4" the episodes actually ran in two seasons. In season 4, the show was quite frequently pre-empted when Fox's NFL Sunday Night football games ran long. Those pre-empted episodes aired the following season (so-called season 5) after the show had already been cancelled. It can not be said that the show did not get a wider audience because of too many in-jokes, or that it contained too much sci-fi to appeal to non-nerds. The fact is that in season 4, it was difficult for even die-hard fans to actually catch an episode. The kicker is that just prior to season 4, it won an Emmy for best animated series.

There are a few stinkers on this DVD, but not significantly more than in the previous seasons. Futurama got funnier each season, period.

INTRODUCTION:Futurama was created by Matt Groening who also invented the popular t.v show The Simpsons the show was great but the show only aired 4 seasons as the FOX network cancelled it.A show with the potential of becoming as big as the Simpsons Futurama keep getting known because of re-runs and the 4 seasons dvds.

REWIEW:Futurama`s last season had great episodes like `The devil`s hand are idle playthings`and `Where no fans has gone before`are among the serie`s best episodes.The final season is to buy for fans of the serie.Futurama was great while it lasted but i still dont know if futurama could have got better.I say that because the simpsons was in its prime starting from season 4 to the season you decide and it might just have been the case with Futurama.

SHAME ON YOU FOX!!!:I am very mad at FOX for cancelling Futurama one of my favourite shows.The network really didnt give a f*** about futurama.They also cancelled Family Guy so FOX is used to cancel great shows that people care for.Next thing they will cancel the Simpsons and King of the hill and i predict that they could ruin t.v.

FUTURE-RAMA:FOX cancelled Futurama but now they had plans for movies and there is negociations to get the show back on air.Look like they realized they goofed.They did the same thing to Family guy they got it back on television and its a hit now the same will happen if futurama comes back.

DIFFERENCE?:Futurama was quite different from the other shows like the simpsons,family guy,american dad,south park,king of the hill and the list goes on.Because it was in space and it didnt focused on a family like many of those shows did.It got crazier than the other things and the enviroment Futurama has is extendable aliens can arrive and stuff because its space and no one knows what space looks like(well a good pat not)and its in the future.

I highly recomend this to futurama AND comedy fans its a different show that is quite funny.Do yourself a favor and buy this if you dont already own it.I am looking forward to futurama coming back on t.v and the movie that is supposed to happen.An easy 5 stars for a great serie like this!

This show was awesome and much better then The Simpsons. The Simpsons has exhausted its exsistance and should turn it over to Futurama because like previously stated, won an Emmy for best animated series. Leave up to FOx to cancel another highly demanded series because of Fox's NFL Sunday Night football games. Rumor is Futurama is coming back so look forward to the series making a come back.

This is the most funny tv show i have ever seen. If you have never seen Futurama before you should buy this set you will not be disapointed!

I have to say that even though I love all those other cartoons (IE; simpsons, family guy) I think that Futurama is the best cartoon show on television. Each episode may be totally different, while keeping with the overall story line of the series. For example Fry has frozen himself, impregenated his great grandmother, and even fuflilled a prophecy written some 1000 years before he get frozen. With shows like this its easy to froget about the simpsons.

it's a shame this show got canceled because it is superior to the simpsons in almost every way. while the simpsons is funny, it is hasn't changed at all and is way too politically correct. the story in futurama actually evolves and it managed to be an interesting show throughout it's run. one main reason for this is because there are so many more different characters, places, and situations in the 31st century.

I don't want to parrot everyone else's review, but I have to say this series is one of the best animated shows ever produced. I still watch all the re-runs on CN even though I've seen every episode many times.

This is a great season, with my two of my favorite episodes - the Sting and Jurrasic Bark. Call me a baby, but these actually moved me to tears.

I am holding out hope that the show goes back into production (a la Family Guy), but it doesn't look good...

It's over. The best, and most importantly, most consistent animated series to ever be cancelled from fox is at it's end. but if you still want to buy more futurama stuff, buy the region 2 versions from amazom u.k. It's an empty gesture, but boy will your dvd shelf look cool!

Well as you may know this will be the last volume of Futurama. Which in my opinion shouldn't have ended. Even though all they show now are reruns on Cartoon Network, I stay up until 12 just to watch the show. In my opinon Fox should bring the series back. If they can bring back the lame ass show the family guy they should give the future another shot. But all I can say in my opinion Fox has booted they best show around PERIOD.

The prior 3 volumes were of consistently great quality so I know this one will be as well.

I'd like to know where people can see sales totals for DVD releases. If the crude and highly esoteric "Family Guy" could get revived, I don't see how Futurama couldn't, FOX is clearly selling enough Futurama to have put out all the volumes onto disc...

Still, Futurama was an intelligent and witty animated show. That type of show, in America, is few and far between. I'm highly grateful 20th Century FOX has released these episodes and using dual layer discs using the utmost quality transfer. I may not dig their politics, but at least they respect their consumers.
