5.0 out of 5 stars Forgotten Goldie/Chevy/Dudley Classic
Dashing Chevy, kookie Goldie and Dudleys performance in his 'pad'. Add a dash of intrigue (which by todays standards will appear dull) and you have a mixture of laughs and mayhem. Its a great early vehicle for all actors and so sad that its been missing from the shelves for such a long time. Maybe dull by todays standards, but well worth the laughs that it still...

3.0 out of 5 stars Funny, but not a gut buster
A man is dead but his body is missing. a woman is chased by an Elbino who may or may not work for the dwarf. If this sounds confusing, don't worry, once you see the movie you'll understand how they all tie in together. While driving down the road one day, Gloria Mundy(Goldie Hawn) happens upon a stranded driver. He gets in her car and she drives off. Soon he notices they...

5.0 out of 5 stars Forgotten Goldie/Chevy/Dudley Classic, Nov 13 2003

Dashing Chevy, kookie Goldie and Dudleys performance in his 'pad'. Add a dash of intrigue (which by todays standards will appear dull) and you have a mixture of laughs and mayhem. Its a great early vehicle for all actors and so sad that its been missing from the shelves for such a long time. Maybe dull by todays standards, but well worth the laughs that it still brings. Dudley steals scenes with his performance and I forgot how good Chevy Chase is/was and Goldie as usual with super humour timing. Scenes not to be missed, Dudleys disco pad!!! Keep an ear out for some of the lines. I think its time they brought this forgotten classic back.

I will always love this movie. Chevy, Goldie and Dudley are at their best. Very few movies have made a lasting impression on me, and this is one of the few.

Easy to order from the site, very quick delivery, would not hesitate to order from this supplier; only disappoitment was that I couldn't tell from the site if the DVD was widescreen (which I wanted.) This DVD is not but still love the movie and it isn't a huge deal. Thanks again.

A newly divorced Gloria Mundy (Goldy Hawn) picks up a hitchkiker, Bob Scott (Bruse Solomon) on California's Highway One north of San Francisco. He is being followed. He makes a date with Gloria for the theater that evening, and gives her a pack of Marlboros into which he puts a roll of film without her knowledge to hold for her. He shows up at the theater, collapses in the seat beside her and dies, after telling her to "beware the dwarf" and that there would be a murder. When she goes for help, the body disappears.

Enter Detective Tony Carlson (Chevy Chase), whom she had met previously at a party. The bad guys try to kill her a couple of times, and to get the pack of smokes, unsuccessfully.

This is an excellent story with a great cast. Pity the dwarf Bible salesman, poor unlucky Stanley Tibbets (Dudley Moore) and the owners of all of the cars wrecked in the chase across town.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great movie., July 18 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Foul Play (VHS Tape)
This movie is very funny, clean humor and suspenseful. I have yet to see a movie with a balance of comedy, suspense and drama. Plus it has great actors like Chevy Chase, Goldie Hawn, Dudley Moore, and the loveable, Burgess Meredith. I would say Chevy Chase's and Goldie Hawn's best movie, although, very few people know about this movie. Excellent!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Just plain Good Entertainment, Dec 21 2001
By
This review is from: Foul Play (VHS Tape)
This is one of my favorite "comfort" movies. You don't have to think a lot, and there's not much deeper meaning. But as homage to Hitchcock, Foul Play is just plain good entertainment. THIS NEEDS TO BE ON DVD IN WIDESCREEN FORMAT!

There. Now I feel better. Watch this one with your sweetie.

5.0 out of 5 stars Classic Suspense-Comedy an Homage to Hitchcock & Film Noir!, Dec 3 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Foul Play (VHS Tape)
This comedy has stood the test of time; don't listen to detractors. Leonard Maltin says the film is "protracted" but is perfect by today's standards (think about the 3-hour epics to which audiences readily flock). "Foul Play" is also an OBVIOUS homage to Hitchcock, not a "plagiarism of Hitchcock" as Maltin shortsightedly declares. Colin Higgins does a great job mixing suspense with comedy (something Hitch fans will recognize). Sure, this is Goldie's movie, and Chevy plays it laid-back (if Chase were to ham it up he'd be distracting); they make a terrific duo. Saying Goldie was the 70s Meg Ryan (as one reviewer did) is like comparing diamonds to junk jewelry (Meg Ryan is paste; Goldie's the gem). Supporting actors show inspired casting, especially Dudley Moore as the kinky conductor. Sets are pure 70s in full-tilt (a retro-decorator's dream). Car-chases with lots of point-of-view will induce vertigo on larger screen TVs (in the theater it was like riding a rollercoaster): it's grand scale entertainment! "Foul Play" can easily be judged a classic -- delightful, fluffy, colorful cotton-candy which should be enjoyed as such. If you're in the dumps, this film will pick you up. Paramount should have the good sense to release "Foul Play" to DVD in it's original theatrical aspect ratio...SOON!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Hilarious Side-Splitting Laughs!, Oct 22 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Foul Play (VHS Tape)
I found this movie totally hilarious with sidesplitting laughter, I laughed my butt off! Many funny scenes including the old ladies who were using vulgar words in their game of scrabble. Goldie Hawn was so funny and adorable in this movie and Chevy Chase was so funny, and cute, they had great chemistry and it's a shame they only made two movies together! Their Other movie, Seems Like Old Times Was a very good movie too and both have tons of belly busting laughs especially Foul Play! Also great in this movie is Dudley Moore who in scene stealing scenes plays a perverted loser!
