This review is from: Cellular (DVD)
cellular is an example of a movie with a good premise, which has
potential, but falls flat.the basic premise is:a school teacher is
kidnapped by a bunch of thugs and locked in a room.somehow, she manages
to build a makeshift phone and calls a random phone number for help.the
person she calls happens to be on a cell phone.at first he thinks it's
a joke.when she finally convinces him she is truly kidnapped,he must
try to find her before it's too late.sounds good so
far,right?wrong.first off i don't think Magyver couldn't have built a
phone with the same materials available.that's one major problem i had.
another is that id didn't feel there was any really buildup of suspense
,so what should have been an exciting movie-i found boring.i found way
too many problems here. for me,it came down to a lack of realism.i just
couldn't suspense my disbelief.normally that isn't a problem,but this
was just too unbelievable for me. 1.5/5

Good flick for those days when you need something to pass the time with.

The synopsis fromm IMDB:
Ryan (Chris Evans) receives a phone call from a stranger on his cellular phone. The woman calling is Jessica Martin (Kim Basinger), a science teacher who has been kidnapped by Greer (Jason Statham). Greer has taken Jessica to a county house and locked her in the attic, but before he leaves, he smashes the phone with a sledgehammer. Jessica is able to put some of the pieces of the phone back together and make a call to the outside world. After several hours of touching the phone wires together, Ryan's cell phone is the only person she is able to contact. Ryan first thinks it is a joke, but Jessica gets Ryan's attention when she tells him that they are going to kill her husband and son. The batteries in Ryan's cell phone are about to go out when Ryan takes the law into his own hands. Saving the lives of Jessica and her family becomes Ryan's number one mission in life.
