3.0 out of 5 stars The Glory of Karate
"We'll live forever, knowing together that we did it all for the Glory of Love..." The sweeping strains of that Peter Cetera theme song still choke me up. If the first "Karate Kid" set the standard, then "The Karate Kid: Part Two" cemented the legend. Watch as Mr. Miyagi confronts the culture he left behind in Okinawa. Remember, this kindly old guru of the martial arts...

The Karate Kid is an excellent movie pack. A classic movie that the whole family can enjoy. Highly educational and teaches good values that society is missing today; especially respect.
Excellent collection for a dirt cheap price.

Got this collection for my boyfriend at Christmas since he is so into Karate. I had never seen them before and I truly enjoyed watching each one for the first time. They are the originals and this is a great collection for those who grew up with this back in the day.

I ordered this movie collection in the early hours of the morning, online, as a gift...it only took a day and a half to get to my door...in mint condition and we shared some laughs watching this oldie goldie! My kids didn't want to watch it at first, but we put it on and they really enjoyed it! It has great life lessons about working hard and respect...Thanks for the prompt service Amazon!

5.0 out of 5 stars sequel improves on original, Oct 11 2007

(TOP 1000 REVIEWER)
once again we have a case where the sequel outdoes the original.the
original set the stage for the characters and is well done.however, the
sequel is better than the original for one main reason,a better
villain.this time Daniel is forced to fight for his
life(literally)against a much more skilled opponent than he faced in
the original.there is much more tension in this movie and more scenes
of peril.the violence is more vivid and graphic. The setting is much
more exotic, this time Okinawa being where most of the story takes
place.so,visually we have a much more picturesque movie to look
at.also,we see some of the culture of the people of Okinawa(accurate or
not,i'm not sure).there is also more happening in this film.we have a
subplot involving Mr.Myagi and a choice he must make.so,the story is
more developed, the location is nicer, and the villain is better written
than the 1st.and of course Mr. Myagi continues to teach Wisdom to
Daniel as well as the Okinawan Village.when you add it all up,this
makes for a better movie.but parents should be warned, again, that there
are more graphic violence and sequences of peril in this one.use your
discretion. 5/5

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice little clloection in a little box, Feb 28 2005
This review is from: Karate Kid Collection Box Set (Karate Kid SE,Karate Kid II, Karate Kid III, Next Karate KId (DVD)
I just finished watching these films over the last week for the first time in years. This set is a must buy for anybody who has kids dealing with bullies. These are films that anybody alive can relate too with the trust in yourself message and fighting only as a last resort. Its also a wonderful take on Karate as an art and a spiritual excercise and not a form of violent fun that allows you to kill a man by ripping his heart out.

The first film is hands down the best. Very sweet and full of wonderful human emotions. The seconed film is a decent sequal with pretty well the same qualities as the first but in a different local and the characters are a little older. The third is kinda silly with the revenge angle but I have seen worse. The last a latest remake stars the 2 time Oscar winner Hillary Swank in her break out role. Very much like the first but not quite as charming like the first three but hey a decent try none the less. The fourth film does have the best scene in the whole series. The scene is when the monks go bowling which is cheezy but funny.

The only gripe I have with the collection is the lack of extras. The first film had great extras but the seconed film had a making the sequal featurette but its 5 mins long and from 1986. It felt they didn't put to much thought in beefing up the last 3. They could have attempted to get Hillary Swank for a sit down retrospect on the next Karate Kid but nope. Other then that this set is a must buy that won't dissappoint fans young and old.

4.0 out of 5 stars i found better than part one, May 28 2004
This review is from: The Karate Kid II (VHS Tape)
I felt Avildsen's followup to The Karate Kid was slightly better than his initial film. The story was much fuller and the fight scene was better. The characters were more developed and the karate was better choreographed. Unlike the flop of a third film, the second is really good.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Glory of Good FUN !, Jan 9 2004
By A Customer
Making this happy if sappy sequel to THE KARATE KID quite appealing are the timeless, immutable qualities carried, generation to generation, to and through every human heart: Love; Forgiveness; Mercy; Compassion; Remorse and other good, great from age to age, emotions. Daniel's Antagonist does as effective a job of rousing the deep, powerful and positive feelings from within him - and us - as does that of Mr. Miyagi's. If plot devices such as the bamboo rattles and farcical final confrontation with a Bully able to have already killed Daniel, DEAD, look trite, remember they exist to give us a brief glimpse into a refined, advanced culture flourishing millennia before ours. Keep in mind that condemning KARATE KID part 2 for so-called "silly" elements within is, in fact, far from as disgusting and tasteless as any of the TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE "movies". My bottom line being, KARATE KID part 2 is Super Stuff ! Rent (or buy) it today !
