5.0 out of 5 stars Never Gone delivers. Backstreet Boys are at their best on this album.
Where do I begin? Incomplete was an awesome first single. I remember the first time that I heard this song and I thought it was great. A powerful love song. One of the best love songs in a long time. Incomplete, Crawling Back To You, I Still, JUst want you to Know and the title track, Never Gone prove that the Backstreet Boys can still deliver.

...but I'll have to agree with the critics on this one. As much as I love the Backstreet Boys and wanted to like this album (believe me, I really tried), I have to say that I was really disappointed. I can only imagine how difficult it must be for a (boy) band like BSB to make a comeback after a 5-year hiatus : having to reinvent yourself, conquer a new audience while being careful not to alienate the old one... But I feel the problem is just that : they weren't able to reinvent themselves. Instead, they kept the same kind of mushy lyrics (I really thought they were past the "I-can't-live-without-you-please-give-me-one-more-chance stage")but incorporated them in a music that seems designed only to fit the current soundscape (Weird World is a carbon copy of Coldplay). Which is really sad, because Incomplete was really promising. But Never Gone simply doesn't feel like the glorious comeback it should be. Instead, it shows the guys' vulnerability, their fear of taking the risk to push the envelope and surprise people, fans and critics alike. We know they've grown up, but it's as if they were afraid to show it. When they were making bubble-gum pop, at least they had a carved a sound of their own, which was later copied by Britney, Nsync and all the boybands that followed. But this time around, unfortunately, they're the ones copying the others. And it's truly a shame.

This album is great from beginning to end and Backstreet Boys return in a major way.

This is simply put, the best album from the Backstreet Boys.

2.0 out of 5 stars ....., Sep 16 2005
This review is from: Never Gone (Audio CD)
ok, i admit this is a BIG improvement compared to their older crap. they sound like they're trying to rock out and i just dont think anyone over 16 can take that seriously. i grew up with the bubblegum dance backstreet boys, and seeing this is just like... "somethings not right"

and is it just me, or is their new single "Just Want You To Know" an EXACT rip off of Kelly Clarkson's "Since U Been Gone"?
it sounds EXACTLY like it. like there's no difference. not just the chorus, but the verses too. its an exact double of the song. could've been a bit more original there...

5.0 out of 5 stars Two Words: Absolutely Amazing!!!, Aug 16 2005

This is Backstreet Boys at their best. From the powerful ballads of Incomplete and Siberia to the toe-tapping Just Want You to Know and My Beautiful Woman, BSB makes a major comeback with this CD. The harmonies in each song are unsurpassable, the words are so meaningful, and the guys themselves are looking better than ever ;). I love everything from Coldplay to Our Lady Peace, but this album tops those of other artists and bands. I haven't stopped listening to this CD since it came out, and I doubt I'll ever grow tired of it! I love it!!! It is quite a bit different than their older stuff, but I'd say the changes were for the best. Their music, both lyrically and rythmically, has grown up just as the boys have. All in all, BSB fans are in for a delicious treat.

Oh, where to start? I admit I used to like the BSB when I was younger, I love "Don't Want you Back" and I've come to realise what the BSB really are: Manufactured crap.
On this album, they are serious and sad, I mean, their life is so bad! They have adoring fans, luxury homes/cars, MONEY! But of course, that isn't enough! Life is still a drag, right? Although that may have not have been the intended message, it sure seemed like it. Do these guys know how to smile?

I will admit it, 'Incomplete' is the kind of song that gets stuck in your head easily. It has a catchy tune, their voices are okay. Unlike the rest of this album. It is extremely hard to sit threw.

Do I recomend this? Well, it depends. If you are a HUGE BSB fan, then go ahead, buy it if you want. It's not the cute boy band pop I used to love, though. If you like rock bands and more punky pop, like Sum 41, Simple Plan etc. Why are you even looking at this item?!

Go ahead and buy this if you want, it'll just give them more money. Money makes life more depressing for them.
