This is my second Breville Ikon kettle. I killed the first one by accident. Totally my fault. It was a great kettle so I bought another. The Breville kettle does everything I want it to -- which is mainly to boil water, fast. The design is slim and sleek so it doesn't take up a lot of real estate on my kitchen counter or in the cupboard. It heats up quickly. It's easy to fill and empty. It's easy to keep clean. I love that it swivels on its base. Best of all, of course, it's cordless. And it looks good. My one complaint -- it's a minor one -- is the location of the water level gauge under the handle -- difficult to see when filling, especially in low light. It may be loud as other reviewers note but, then, aren't all boiling kettles? This is not a deal breaker for me. The bell, thankfully, is relatively quiet -- just a ding -- a nice feature when you don't want to wake the household with a shrill whistle. Overall, I'm a fan of Breville products and the Ikon kettle doesn't disappoint.

I loved my Breville kettle for the first year and a half. Then the 'on' light began to flicker, and within a couple of days, it shorted out and the kettle stopped working. I contacted Breville and they told me their kettles are not servicable, they are garbage if they do not work, and since it was past the 1 year warranty, all they could offer was a replacement -- for $50. Appliances should have a greater lifespan than 1.5 years!! And to not service or repair their products -- deplorable.

This is the second kettle Breville kettle I own which stopped working after 2 years.
The first one, I dropped on the floor and it broke (I thought it would be sturdier). Not learning from this lesson, I bought the same kettle again.
Its on/off button stopped working around~2 years after purchase. They look beautiful, but I never had kettles breaking/failing to work before I switch to this product. So if you rarely use it, and want it to look nice in your kitchen as an accessory, it will serve the purpose. Otherwise, it is junk.

The kettle looks nice but it stopped working after a little over a year. Check out all the poor reviews on and save yourself the trouble and buy a different kettle. I had the same issue as the last reviewer the base stops connecting properly with the kettle rendering the whole thing useless. The warranty is only for a year. I contacted Breville and was offered a discount on purchasing the same kettle over again but why in the world would I want to spend more money on a product that doesn't work.

I purchased this kettle for my wife about a year ago. We've been very satisfied with the product with one exception: this device is darn loud! As it heats up, the volume this device generates is surprisingly bothersome. It's almost difficult to have a conversation in our kitchen while this kettle roars away, bringing water to a boil. I'm delighted with all other aspects of this unit (looks, durability, speed, etc) except the bothersome roar as it comes to a boil.

Love the design, the water boils really fast and I like the way the lid easily flips open. The only downside is how loud it is when in use. I have yet to find a quiet fast boiling kettle though so I don't think it is any noisier than others. I would recommend the kettle as I do love the way it looks.

Nice looking kettle with blue light on when boiling. The look is cool but it is quite noisy when boiling water (not noisier than my previous one). So if you don't mind paying extra for the look and the cool blue light, it is otherwise a good kettle.

The kettle is great and straight forward ( I didn't want a kettle with 5 settings for a 20 degree temperature difference at a large extra cost). It is replacing a Cuisinart that gave up the ghost after 8 years.

Looks good with the matt stainless steel
Nice water pour
Easy to read water on the side
Easy on switch with side lights up when it is on
It pings when the water has boiled
Metal filter - that will be easy to clean
Sturdy base

You see condensation on the inside of a the clear lid, which doesn't look great - its not necessary and would be better if it was a solid colour
You have to use the Breville name on the inside to know it's the max fill fill.

I have had this kettle for several years and like it's features. I don't notice it being terribly loud, however, it has now quit switching off when it boils.
After watching it not doing it's job I realized that the lid is not a tight fit any more. I put my empty mug on top of the lid and it now shuts off when it has boiled it's full minute, the lid needs to be closed.
I noticed in the manual that it does say that you must have the scale filter in it's place also or it won't shut off.
So if you do mind sticking your mug on the lid to hold it down, you might want to contact Breville Canada.

Works for me,

Got a mafucaturer refurb unit here on at nice price.

It's loud, sure, when it's full, but not so much for a couple of cups.

Still, a little disapppointed with my purchase for the following reasons:
-Takes too much time to turn off after water starts boiling, letting lots of steam out under cupboards...
-Stainless steel surface requires constant cleaning to keep smudge free
-Water level hard to view through window. Need to get in close
-Light is useless: why need a light to turn on when water's already in the kettle?

Next time will try a full glass kettle.
