Thinking man's metal,
By Eric B (Montreal, Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Elements (Audio CD)
This re-issue pleases me in every way. A classic album from a cult band in a style somewhat similar to Cynic (note that Tony Choy played in both bands, though not simultaneously). Some fans might not like Josh Greenbaum as a drummer compared to Steve Flynn... But, even if he does a little less than Flynn, Greenbaum manages to remain tight as a clock throughout the album, a feat that Flynn, in my opinion, did not achieve on either Piece of Time AND Unquestionable Presence. I cannot say which songs are better than others, as the entire album is just incredible. To think that leadman Kelly Shaefer had 40 days to form a new line-up, write songs, rehearse them, record and mix them, and come out with such an amazing album just blows me away... even 12 years later !
