Below average for a "Tales" entry, but fun nonetheless,

I've been playing through all of the 'Tales' games (at least the ones which are available in English) since I bought bought Tales of Symphonia (great game), and Tales of Legendia is definitely one of the weaker titles in the series - but it isn't necessarily a bad game. The first part of the game (main story) is pretty standard fare RPG-wise, the second part (character quest) was a bit dull (and had no voiceovers), and the gameplay consists mostly of button mashing. The game's strengths are character development and comedy (it's certainly one of the funnier 'Tales' games), it's also very well voice acted (1st half) and doesn't suffer from the agonizing load times that plagued Tales of the Abyss. Overall it's an O.K. game, but unless you're a big 'Tales' fan I'd avoid it unless you can get it on the cheap.

I have bought Tales of Legendia and Grandia III at the same time. The reviews I read said Grandia III was better but I disagree. Grandia III bored me to death after 15 hours in, gave up sold it back. Tales of Legendia I am now at 26 hours in and have loved every single minute of it. The story is great, you care about the characters, the voice acting keeps me laughing, the battle system is not the best and fights are easy but at least that is better than too hard. I played previously LOS and loved it as well.

not what was expected...,

This game was at least intresting ( A LITTLE ) but you have to play Tales Of Symphonia to fully enjoy this kind of RPG. the fights cannot be played by more than 1 player... disapointing, cause TOS had a 4 multiplayer option. the story is kind of not intresting compared to TOS's... moves are WAY LESS amazing, cause TOS had moves that were blowing your eyes away!!If i summarise my whole idea, this game is worth trying, but not completing. Tales of symphonia offers way cooler game options, like a "world map", cool fights and 8 psychological character mini individual stories.

This game isn't good...,

Tales of symphonia on gamecube offers more competitive gameplay, and a better storyline, less "takes 5 minutes to make a reply cause my face has to appear in big in front of the player" 'ishthis game shows how we can be decieved by something that you've been waiting for for a friggin while... cause when i started playing that game, the song bored me to death : that vocal opera thing in the first part where you control senel (he is totaly boring me, he's always complaining, im gonna kick his face....) is totaly making me go nuts and bust my head on walls... And for that dude, Will, he has a viril voice, but the attitude of a PMS woman... i will not continue, because some of you might be loving this game... if i summarize, you have to try it to see how boring it is compared to Tales of symphonia (try TOS and then try TOL... you'll see what i mean...) i give it 1 star cause it made me feel awfully bad when i played, the storyline did not make me hook on it, like TOS did try, rent... buy if you have lots of money

I experience the same thing each time I play a Tales game...,
This review is from: Tales of Legendia (Video Game)
I intially enjoy the refreshing change of pace with the action oriented gameplay, but ultimately mashing my way through battle after battle grows a little tiresome, even with acquiring a few various skillsover the course of the game. The plots are generally quite horrific; monoliths of trite, overwrought cliches and heavy handed subthemes about racism that are usually as subtle as a brick to the face. Legendia was no different.Simply not a fan of the series. |
