Excellent Guitar DVD, Jan 11 2007

I own the G3 with Yngwie M (Live in Denver) and this G3 is just as good.
Yngwie owned the Denver DVD, and in this one from Tokyo there is no one player who completely excels the others. Satriani is solid as usual and John Petrucci demostrates his guitar mastery by keeping up with the other two. To me, Steve Vai has upped his playing and showmanship to a higher level than past G3s, and therefore shows that he, at least in this concert, seems to be the better player. Satriani, however technically and gifted player that he is, never really can match Vai for stage presence. The band, which includes the talented Tony McAlpine and Billy Sheehan, among others, are wonderful.
Vai's song "The Audience is listening" is not only a highlight of his set and guitar skills, but also a joy to watch in the high energy interplay between Sheehan and himself trading guitar and bass solos, licks and each others guitars. Great fun!
The jam playing of Foxy Lady, La Grange and (believe it or not)Smoke on The Water is magnificent with just about everyone getting opportunity to show their skills.
Worth owning if you love great electric guitar musicianship.
