This scorching DVD is the first live rock and roll from Pagliaro since his definitve double-LP (sadly not released on CD...yet) from the early 70's. While that set of tunes blisters and burns, this new set does not suffer from comparison. Perhaps one could argue that Steve Hill's guitar histrionics are over the top (they are), there is no getting away from the fact that this is as tight, as melodic, as seamless a show you're ever going to hear - or see. The picture is perfect. The sound is even better. Play this in DD 5:1 with the centre channel OFF. As if by magic, the guitars take on the savage tone of real guitar pickups played through real amps. I don't know how the engineers did it but this is as close to live guitar sound as I've ever heard. On headphones, the two front channels burn with intensity and precision. I can't recommend this enough. Canadians should be ashamed of themselves for ignoring this talent. Pagliaro has written classic songs over the past three decades that have obviously not diminished one iota. And it is all represented here in this DVD. From the music to the picture, this is rock and roll perfection. Miss this one at your own peril.

"Pag" is one of the great unsolved mysteries of Canadian music history, and this TRES (VERY) welcome release is worth more that a Rolex to this long-time U.S. fan who has followed his career for decades!
The song selection is a wonderfully delivered overview of the many faces of this great artist, from early pop hits ("J'ai Marche Pour Une Nation"),through his astounding MUCH singles ("Some Sing,Some Dance","Rainshowers") his powerful CBS days ("Le Temps Press","What the Hell I Got") and his never say die later (and hard edged)
compositions such as "Les Bombes" &"Dangereux".It's one Pag classic after another, with a performance that gets more intense as the band plays on!!And the lucky audience is delighted!!
The shots and editing are engaging, the arrangemnets strong & to the point(often lending both a boogie and bluesy edge to beloved songs like "Dans La Peau"-"C'est Comme Ca)." And you bet "J'entends Frapper is both here,ALIVE & great as is ever was!
Pag's band of Steve Hill (guitar),Martin Lavallee (drums) and Dominic Rock Laroche (bass) is a rock and roll powerhouse;no showboating, just a straight out blast.
The guys all look as if they walk it like they talk et mon amis: THEY TALK IT LIKE THE HALL OF FAME MUSIC the beloved and great Michel Pagliaro has produced. Magnifique!!

Is Steve Hill over the top ? You bet he is over the top incredibly fantastic, what a guitarist ! Actually everyone in the band is dynamite, the drummer, the bassist not to mention Pagliaro himself who gives a top notch performance. This DVD is not for the faint of heart ! This DVD rocks big time, it's loud ! It's rock & roll at it's best, made in Quebec. Don't let yourself be fooled by the cover, it's not an outdoor show. It's an indoor intimate show at night. I was a bit hesitant to write a review. I wanted to keep this DVD my personal secret, I love it to death. I thank God that I discovered it. This review is my gift to you, enjoy !
