AMAZING!,

Joaquin Phoenix is the man! He gives me chills when he is in the studio doing Folsom Prison for the 1st time. The soundtrack is amazing but HOW ON EARTH do they have the nerve to exclude "Time's a Wastin" off the soundtrack? Jackson is great but Time's a Wastin' is so cute. I guess there are no hopes of getting a part II on the soundtrack with other tunes recorded but not used???

Amazing Soundtrack,

This soundtrack is amazing, except it does NOT include "Time's a Wastin'" Joaquin Phoenix did an excellent job imitating Mr. Johnny Cash. Reese sounds better than the real June Carter!! A must buy for any Johnny Cash fan or Joaquin. Give Joaquin a break guys, you critics seem to think he is supposed to BE Johnny. An excellent CD of Tunes from the movie.

Cheated....Big Time,

I loved this movie and have grown more accustomed to Phoenix and Reese singing the songs than the actual singers. However, I WOULD NOT have bought the CD had I known that the duo "Time's a Wastin'" wasn't on there. That duo is the only one that I really, really liked of them together. I love the song "it ain't me babe," but Reese is drowned out by Phoenix pretty much, which is the way it's suppose to be. I don't like the fact that there are about 6 songs on there by the guys who sung Jerry Lee Lewis, Elvis and Waylon Jennings songs. That would be fine, but to leave off a couple of key songs sung by the stars of the movie really stinks. When you put the CD in the computer it takes you to the website where you can watch a couple of videos. The only way the studio can make this up to the movies music fans is to put "time's a wastin" on there for a free download to soundtrack owners. Heck, I would even pay a couple of dollars for the download of it.

Yes...Joaquin Phoenix is NOT Johnny Cash and Reese Witherspoon is NOT June Carter. Good observation. I am very sorry to report, if you haven't already heard, but both of these talented musicians have passed away. So, seeing as the movie couldn't use the ACTUAL artists they coped with these actors. And as it turns out they both have amazing voices and I think did an amazing job considering the shoes they had to fill.

okay, so i was reading all the other reviews and give me a break...joaquin phoenix did and awesome job singing all of johnny cash's songs, he's an actor not a professional and i think he deserves a lot more credit than what he's getting, if you listen to the original and phoenix's versions they are very similar. I personally think he and reese witherspoon did a very good job singing in the movie, and on the soundtrack and they should get credit for that. it seems as though people fail to realize that these people are actors not professional singers and it took a lot for them to take on such big roles, and to get these roles somebody had to agree with me thinking they were good.

Honest...,

This review is from: Walk the Line.. (Audio CD)
Joaquim Phoenix does an "honest" job on the J.C. tracks while Reese just does not succeed in her attempt to re-create June's very personal vocal style. "Ring of fire" is a total disaster while most of the other tracks sound "ok". However, the Elvis tracks are pure "pastiche", speeded-up/cliché 80s rockabilly style, and do not sound like the original King's Sun recordings at all... One would think that with all those Elvis impersonators out there they could have cast a "sound alike" singer and a proper actor to lypsync the songs... a disapointing score of4/10

Ok if you want to hear Johnny Cash tunes sung by two actors,

When I first heard that Phoenix was doing his own singing, I was impressed that he had the courage to try it. When I saw the movie and heard the soundtrack, I was less impressed. He's flat a lot of the time and doing a pale imitation of the power of John Cash. Witherspoon is probably a nice lady, but should stick to acting and not singing.

I think the soundtrack decision makers missed the bus on a potentially great cd. they should have made a compilation of musician making cover songs.eg. kid rock, white stripes, hank williams and many others |
