This review is from: Ten Commandments 1923/1956 (DVD)
The Ten Commandements (1956) is undoutedly a great movie. Created with a large scale deployment of decors and extras, it probably represents the best of what cinematographic capacity of the time had to offer. The story clings to the biblical version of events we were taught in religion classes fifty years ago. Actors perform with solemnity. However, the manifestations of God lack the evocative power and subtlety that is found in Ben Hur. Also, the movie shows its age in cinematographic techniques, actors play and atmosphere. A classic in the biblical genre.

I don't have time to give a review that it at least 20 words long. What's wrong with just giving a star rating?
