This review is from: Batman Beyond: The Complete First Season (DVD)
I was first led to watch Batman Beyond when the original Justice League cartoon had it's two part-er time travel episode involving going both to see Jonah Hex in the past and Terry-Batman in the future.
I enjoyed what I saw in the Batman Beyond universe so much that I decided to go get season 1 of the show to check it out (subsequently i purchased seasons 2 and 3 elsewhere).
This season involves a lot of introduction to Terry's life, to how he works being batman and a high school kid, managing Bruce Wayne and juggling a love interest or two.
The writing is OK but I like it more for what it represents: an extension of a Batman universe with a sympathetic teenager who doesn't brood like Dick Grayson and isn't portrayed as a douche like Batman's sidekicks often are in the cartoons. Terry IS the new Batman, without the mood swings.
