Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit,
By Dr. Duck (Vancouver Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit (Widescreen Edition) (DVD)
Loved it. I bought it for my 6 year-old son and it was very funny and entertaining. I didn't think it would be appropriate for my 3 year-old son but to be quite honest, it was just fine. He found it funny too.

Just like it's previous short films, it's in a similar kind of style, but that dosn't make it bad or less funny. Unlike it's previous incarnations, this is a full length feature film and it is very very funny. The animation as and the story is funny and probably the best doulbe act of the age. If you watched Wallace and Gromit before or other aardman programmes/films etc you know what you get and thats lots of fun for familys, children and adults alike. A must buy.

Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit is entertaining. Not only does it have suspense, but an innocent romance blended in with the excitment around all the characters. Worth purchasing. I had a copy - misplaced it - had to have another, so I ordered it for my DVD library.

Full of laughs, brilliantly animated, a very clever film that should not fade with time,

First, for the fans: this is not going to disappoint those who fell in love with the off-kilter humor and brilliant animation of the original three short films in the Wallace and Gromit series. It is every bit as clever and inventive, does not pander to its audience, does not lose anything in coming to the big screen. Far from it, this is the best of the bunch, that starts off well and continues to build comedic momentum as the story continues. The grand scale of widescreen 35mm film allows the animators to push their inventiveness to new heights: the world they create seems every bit as detailed and real (even though obviously its own kind of real) -- maybe even more so -- as almost any "live action" film I have seen.Second, for the rest of you who have never heard of Wallace & Gromit, or who find uninteresting the idea of a daft middle class Brit who is, inexplicably, a remarkable inventor, and his even more clever but silent dog, you will still find yourself rolling in the aisles and smiling in spite of yourself at the wonderfully witty humor and the clever satire, and silly innuendoes of this film. For overall enjoyment, this film can be compared with Shrek -- though I found myself laughing even harder and smiling even wider at this one. Remarkably, though they are made of clay, the characters in this film seem to exhibit more character than the CGI animated creatures of Shrek (and certainly more feeling than most of the films you'll see at the local multiplex anyhow). My wife, who was not very interested in seeing this film - and had only seen parts of "The Wrong Trousers" -- and had to be dragged along with me and my children ages 5 to 9, was laughing as loud or louder than anyone else in the theater and absolutely loved it. Gromit is the star of the show, and it is really fantastic the way in which the filmmakers are able to convey so much feeling on just his canine face without any dialogue. Beyond that, the film manages simultaneously to be a novel and underivative but very funny story in its own right, while also making loads of sly and silly references to classic horror and film noir, and containing jokes that work at a number of levels (for parents and for their children). This is one film that I won't mind watching with my children many times.

this movie was a delight from start to finish.if you're not familiarwith Wallace and Gromit,Wallace is a cheese loving inventor, and Gromit is his faithful canine companion.as the title suggests the duo get heavily involved in a mystery involving a strange creature known as the Were-Rabbit,and hijinks ensue.the entire movie is filmed using characters molded from plasticine, and using stop motion animation.a lot of painstaking work went into the process, and it shows.the detail is amazing.and beyond that, the movie is funny and suitable for all ages.i loved this movie and will definitely be watching it again.for a fun time for the whole family,i recommend this movie heartily.for me,Wallace and Gromit in The Curse of the Were-Rabbit is a perfect 5/5

I had never heard of W & G before and then my 5 year old pointed it out in a video store saying his class saw it at school. I watched it at home with him and loved it. Loved the English-ness of it and Gromit best of all.

Wallace and Gromit have remained a favourite with the short films, and this is the first full length feature. All I can say is, wow. I could not stop laughing throughout the movie, and there are never any parts you want to skip over. The Curse of the Were Rabbit keeps you rolling in your seat with it's humour, spoofs, and the ever classic characters of Wallace and his lovable pooch Gromit. The story is about (of course) Wallace and Gromit, and this time they've started Pesto, a Anti Pest control team. They live in a quaint town, with an annual vegetable competition held by the Lady Tottington. Pesto protects the town from the population of rabbits in the area. Their newest customer becomes none other than Lady Tottington (Tottie), and her hilarious "boyfriend". Of course, as the story goes on, the Wererabbit eventually steps into play, and must be taken care of before the vegetable competition is cancelled or ruined! You have to keep your eyes open for detail throughout the movie, because it is filled with little jokes and background things, which make you laugh all the harder. It's a great movie for all ages, and one that I think will be difficult to get sick of watching. |
