5.0 out of 5 stars San Andreas - some welcome improvements from previous titles

3.0 out of 5 stars Game Freezing
The San Andreas game is a great game, but the used game I purchased freezes when I'm playing it - plus the case is cracked and broken and the papers look like they were wet. Guess I get what I pay for :(

Despite the "hot coffee" controversy that nearly killed the shelf life of the game, Rockstar has once again delivered a step up in the Grand Theft Auto series. Although rampages and hidden packages have disappeared, oysters and 2 player rampages have taken their place. The wardrobe, dating/girlfriend, dancing and gambling aspects of the game are mini games in of themselves.

While Vice City wasn't a huge step from Liberty City, San Andreas is quite the step up from Vice City. As usual, the soundtrack tries to remain loyal to the period, with mixes of hip-hop, country and hard rock as well as social commentary presented as "commercials" on the city radio stations.

Even though this game can be extremely addictive and time-consuming, especially if you attempt to play the entirety of the story, for those dying to play more of this series, it is an essential.

GTA: San Andreas is the granddaddy of sandbox games. Sure, the graphics aren't great for a PS2 game, but the fun more than makes up for it. You play as Carl "CJ" Johnson, a gangster who just wants to have. A nice trip back to his home state of San Andreas to attend his mothers funeral. But when he sees how much trouble your homies are in, you decide to stay. You'll steal cars, shoot guns, and maybe have a little bouncy time with a hooker or two(there's no nudity, but it's there) Also, the language. There's N-words, F-words, and all other kinds of words that you'll hear throughout your adventure. You'll embark on a handfull of missions as you go from the bottom to the top. You'll venture across the massive state of San Andreas(as oppossed to the single city that all previous GTAs had) which has three big cities, 11 small towns, and lots of sprawling coutryside. San Andreas is definetly the best GTA game on PS2, and maybe even the best in the series. A must buy.

Pros:
Lots of land to explore
Addictive Gameplay
Great Story

Cons:
Graphics aren't very good
That's it
