One X = sophomore success,
By
This review is from: One-X (Audio CD)
It's safe to say Three Days Grace will be a force to be reckoned with when it comes to Canadian music. The band's first album saw every single jump to #1 on a music chart somewhere. This, their second album is a refreshing sound to listen to after many of us kept playing the debut album over and over.To say this album is better is not exactly accurate, but it's good enough for a second album. The album does have a fresh sound to it. Many bands try to copy what they had done before, but not these guys. An example would be the track, "Over and Over", which contains an orchestra; something not heard on the first album, although the track itself still has that heavy 3DG sound we're used to. "It's All Over" is the perfect opening track. "Pain" would make a great second single with its catchy chorus, while "Animal I Have Become" sets the tone for the album, but makes a great first single that still captures the intesity of previous 3DG songs. There is no doubt that "Never Too Late" will be the obligatory 'Kids Help Phone' single with such lyrics as "this world will never be what I expected" and "still I hear you say you wanna end your life." "Let It Die" is a potential radio single, and the album's title track shows the band's attempt to be unique by not adding to the endless list of songs called "One". The best idea is to listen to this album with an open mind...if you are an up-and-coming Three Days Grace fan, buy the debut album first...those who are fans of the band, what are you waiting for?

One of the best rock albums of 2006. Three Days Grace deliver!!,
By

The first three singles from One X have topped the Billboard Mainstream charts. Animal I have Become reached #1. Pain reached #1. Never Too Late has reached #1 this week. Three Days Grace have delivered a hugely successful album with three #1 singles from the album. Yes, this album should have won a Juno award- but Award shows are all political and quite often, the artist or song that deserves to win is overlooked or cast aside. Juno Awards aside, this is quite possibly one of the best rock albums from 2006. Three Days Grace have a promising future and this Canadian act know how to deliver!! One X is a masterpiece. An amazing album!!

Why did this not win the Juno?,

Why, why, why? This is an amazing album, very personal and strong. I loved their first record and had high expectations for this one, and I swear, they were fulfilled beyond hope! And they are just as great live as on the CD. Good job 3DG!

Moving Forward,

Three Days Grace definately shows their ability to move forward with this album. While their first album showed what they were made of, it tended to drift all together and sound like one really long song. This album has none of it and follows it's own path. 'Pain' will probably be the best known, since it's popularity exploded even before the band's performance at the Juno's, and it works well as the 'selling track' but it is definately not the only stand alone track, or fast favourite. It's unlikely you'll be disappointed with this CD. Happy listening :D

Absolute Brilliance....It is so hard today to find an album in which every song could be a hit. This album is one of the very few albums now a days where you don't have to skip songs on your cd player to enjoy listening to great rock music. If you like "I hate everything about you" & "Wake up", you'll love the album in its entirity. Spend the money people you won't be disappointed!! EXTREME GIGGIDY!!!

I've been listening to 3DG since I first heard "I Hate [Everything About You]" and I really enjoyed their debut album. Now, beings that I've been majorly disappointed with a lot of bands "follow-up" albums, ie. Lacuna Coil and Rob Zombie, I was very skeptical with 3DG's sophmore release. I heard the first single "Animal I Have Become" and thought it was catchy but not overly impressive so I didn't buy the album right away. I then saw them play a pub show in St. Catherines and thought "ok, they changed their image slightly" which was cool. Then I heard {possibly their 2nd single}, "Pain" and thought "Holy crap, this song is awesome". So I took a risk and bought this album, along with Billy Talent II. I was blown away... I can't even listen to Billy Talent II cuz this album is constantly being played "over and over" which ironically is my favourite track on the album. "Never Too Late", "On My Own" and "Gone Forever" are the stand out tracks including "Animal" and "Pain". I must say, this album is dark with emotion and musically beautiful to the ear. I recommend this album to anyone, even if you like hardcore and metal like myself, you'll all enjoy this masterpiece... In the dark my flaws disappear ;P

Killer Album,

If you like their first album then you'll like this one, but give it a chance. It's not all rage like the first one. There's two songs that are just ok and the rest are awesome. Definitely a must buy!

Good things come in 3,
By Aaron (Edmonton. Alberta) - See all my reviews

It has taken three years since the last album but it was well worth the wait. Comparing this album to the last, you'll see a lot more depth and passion placed into this one. The songs are versatile in aesthetic appeal and meaning, with good music to back it up, and lyrics that are a little more mature than the last album. This album spans many genres from grunge to hard rock, with a tiny bit of metal influence, but its mostly rock to me. Way to go TDG, nice to see how you've grown and it will be even nicer to see how much further you can evolve your music. Personally, I wouldn't mind if they took three years to make another album as long as they take the time to put their soul into it like this one.

Three years after the release of their first cd called Three Days Grace, they are back with this new cd called One-X who is in my opinion one of the best cd of the year. The sound is different and the lyrics of their songs are more mature. If you like rock music go and buy this cd.
