I love Frank Black. His crazy lyrics and off time music have entertained me for years. I own, or have owned all of his albums at one time or another, but every third album or so just.... I don't know, sucks. This one comes after the piece of gold called "Honeycomb".
This album is mellow, and sometimes boring. Perhaps what I am saying is that it would have been better as a single album. Many of the songs are excellent. Fizgerald is a great song, with funny lyrics, "but thru your cigarette stained beard , your love rang true." Every time I hear that I laugh.
On the flip side there are the bad songs. Some of them just meander with no point, others pale because their neighbors are so good. Come on Frank!! Sometimes you got to cut out the filler (Devils workshop) and give us the Killer (Show me your tears, Honeycomb).
