Zojirushi NS-LAC05 Micom Rice Cooker and Warmer in Stainless Steel

The same rice I have been eating over 30 years tastes totally different! I cannot believe what I was missing! California rice tastes like the top rated Japanese rice, Koshihikari! On top of that, no messy clean-up of spills, etc. Problem: I have been eating too much rice since I bought Zojirushi.

This Zojirushi rice cooker is advertised to hold the capacity of 3 cups of "dry" rice. The cups are not North American 8oz cups, but rather 6oz cups. I did not cook in it, but I would estimate that it could cook 2 to 2 1/4 8oz cups of dry rice. I returned it and have purchased a larger Zojirushi 5.5 cup model, which has more cooking functions, and only takes up a slightly bigger footprint on the counter. I believe that the larger models can still cook small amounts of rice if needed.

My previous rice cooker of 20yrs have finally given up its soul.
Shipping from Amazon was very fast.
Construction: It's a cute little unit with all rounded corners. Seems very well build, no rattle, no cheap part. The stainless steel warmer is non stick and really heavy (ie no cheap aluminium wall) and retains the heat well. Standard small plastic measuring cup.
Instructions: relatively easy, however deal with some things that are only available in Japan (eg. recipe given says to put 'the seven herbs of spring' (what are those??). This thing cooks rice, so in the end not rocket science to figure it out.
Cooking: PERFECT rice every time, whether it's sushi, basmati, scented long grain. Even tried steel cut oats (needs 1.5-2 times more water). Great to have the delay timer cooking. I would soak the oat overnight then start the cooking at 4am to have a great hot just cooked breakfast. Once done it beeps a silly tune but it's cute just like the look of the machine.
It's just the right quantity for the 5 of us.
Very happy. Hopefully will last another 20yrs.

After saw lots of good reviews I bought this little cooker. And now I know why so many people love it. It cooks perfect every time. Highly recommended.

Wonderful rice cooker! When my old cooker died I was surprised to realise how much I missed it, so did a search for something similar but with extra settings so it wouldn't be quite as much of a guessing game with the brown rice. The first time I cooked short grain brown I added a bit too much water. The following time I added water to where it was just under, barely touching the correct level line. It came out perfectly. Every batch since then has been perfect. I love this cooker.

I am very impressed with this rice cooker. It is small, meaning I don't have to feel bad if I only make one cup of rice. it is a very high quality machine and with many features I have yet to even attempt to use. I will update more once I try out the "porridge" and "brown" settings!

Always had a rice cooker but one of the older traditional models. Boy, the newer technology rice cooker really makes the rice taste better! Both white long grain and brown rice cooked perfectly although the cooking time seems to be longer.

Displays Error code E02 after 13 months (only one year warranty). Service center says $80 + tax to fix it! Worked fine while it was working! Switching back to less sophisticated one.

I have searched for almost a year, before i found this product on amazon, only two week we have it and it is rice time every night and the sushi set up really work as in the restaurant. Yummy rice, if you're looking for a good cooker, this is the thing!
