Dennis Hopper stars in the greatest sequel in the series. A DJ,stretch, has Leatherface and chop-top on tape killing a couple of punks and plays it on air for Lefty to help flush them out of hiding. Tom savini's gore effects are excellent, as usual, and this could be the last great film director Tobe Hooper has ever done. Bill Mosley, Bill Johnson and Dennis Hopper deliver top notch performances. The DVD is nice to have but is not 16x9 as listed, again MGM has dropped the ball on a great genre title and should re-visit this movie with a mack daddy special edition.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Texas Chainsaw Massacare is BACK!!!!!, Jan 1 2004

I have not seen the first film(It looks better than this) or Leatherface:Texas Chainsaw Massacare 3 but I did see this film and it was GREAT! It's about a man named Lefty, who's looking for
a murderer and canibal named "LeatherFace". This Leatherface were's a mask made out of human fleash and has not been heard of for almose 15 years, when he last killed some people. Lefty gets true evadence that Leatherface is still alive when he comes and kills a man. Lefty also finds out about his family who are also canibles. The kill sences in this are great(lots of blood and gore if thats what your looking for). Now that I have seen this I really want to see the first and third film!(Not the fourth film, that looks bad)

5.0 out of 5 stars This is possibly better than it's prequel!, Dec 28 2003

Iron-Man (Leatherface's basement) - See all my reviews
The cannibalistic family is back, and they are much more terrifying. The original was great, but this is one of the coolest horror films of all time in my opinion. Leatherface is much stranger than the first one, and he has a stranger looking mask. The "hideout or underground lair" that the family lives in is like a sewer in ways, like...it is nasty, it has many trick exits, lots of hidden passage-ways, and...it is underground! The plot is weird, and I will tell you about it, without spoilers, right now: Two guys get "chainsawed" and a radio DJ hears it and she goes to a detective and he don't seem to care and then he does seem to care and she follows "the family" and gets trapped in their underground freakshow. It's been a-while since I saw it, and I might have made a mistake...forgive me if I did. I know that sounds a little boring, but there is a lot of action and good violence to count on, like the chainsaw sword might at the climax and the truck chase at the beginning. Those are just two of the many action packed scenes in the movie. So... go somewhere, get this, go home, lay back, kick on the movie, and watch it, you might like it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Goofy sequel sticks to your ribs, Jun 3 2004
This sequel could not be more different from the original. It is cheesy, gory, self-aware exploitation that pushes the right buttons. It is not scary, but it is thoroughly entertaining. The violence is cartoonish and completely over-the-top. In one scene, the sometimes subverted theme of sexual violence in slasher films is taken to comical extremes when Leatherface actually pantomimes sexual intercourse with the film's heroin using his chainsaw to represent his "special purpose." Obvious, perhaps, but funny regardless. Nothing is taken seriously, almost as though Hooper decided to mock his first film.

The older brother from the first film is back. He now owns an award-winning chili franchise. "What's the secret?" he is asked by a reporter at the anual chili contest. "Never skimp on the meat," he replies, fiendishly. Yes, it's human meat, supplied by his two younger brothers, Choptop and Leatherface. Choptop, whose character is obviously modeled on the hitch-hiker (middle brother) from the first film, is a Vietnam Vet turned hippie turned Manson family reject. Leatherface is basically the same pea-brained psychopath, but now he gets to display his romantic side.

Dennis Hopper plays the tough-talking Marshal, Lefty, who's single goal in life is to avenge the killing of his brother and his brother's family. He gives us an absolutely ridiculous performance that fits this absolutely ridiculous movie.

It's a well-made film, but, although there was more money, there was not the distinctive vision of the original. However, if you like movies like Dead Alive and Evil Dead II, then you should appreciate where this movie is coming from.

PS: This is the last movie in the series that is worth watching, besides the surprisingly good remake that came out recently.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2, April 1 2004

This movie was cool, now that I know more about the actual history behind this. I liked the 1st and 2nd movie the best, the newest one is just plain sick and stupid, it really had nothing to do with the 1st and 2nd and anyhow who the heck thought of making this stupid one anyhow! It takes away from the 1st 2 and it's just another stupid gory movie that makes no sense anyways. The truth is there never was a chainsaw massacre. (...) I would have enjoyed seeing something with more truth than lie, not that I enjoy things of the macabre but just because if your gonna tell a story at list give us as much truth as possible! Please!

5.0 out of 5 stars Not as good as the first, but still pretty awesome, Feb 21 2004
By
This movie was not as good as the first (obviously) but was still good. It had the same proporsions as the first. The gore was great and so was the plot. A sherriff (Dennis Hopper) goes after Leatherface and his family for killing his own, and faces unbelieveable horror.

After seeing this movie a felt that it was worthy of the title THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE 2. This is a movie definatly worth buying on DVD. If you are a fann of the first movie, this is definatly a movie for you.

5.0 out of 5 stars LICK MY PLATE!!, Dec 28 2003
If Texas Chainsaw Massacre is the King of Redneck Horror, here reigns the Duke. Take one serving of Leatherface, add in some Dennis Hopper, and kick it in the teeth with Bill Moseley as Chop Top, and you have a winning recipe for your next batch of cannibal chili. The secret's in the meat, friends.

While it lacks the serious, wet-your-pants horror of the first movie, this humourous spin has what it takes to make mouths happy. This chainsaw fan can't argue with anything involving Dennis Hopper wielding twin chainsaws in order to send his arch-enemies back to hell, while Leatherface shows his softer side and woos a disc-jockeying chickie. Even more fun is the random addition of Chop Top(Bill Mosely, of House of 1000 Corpses fame) and his Vietnam veteran antics.

If you're ready to settle down and take your TCM a little less seriously, slop yourself up a bowl-full of this film. It aims to please.
