Trailer Park Boys - Xmas Special: The Dope and Liquor Edition

I found this at a store for $5, and re-bought it, even though I already own the version that came with the Conky puppet. Why? Read on.

1. Because I'm crazy like that and I love TPB.
2. Because it was cheap enough to warrant the purchase.
3. Because the previously unreleased on DVD "Trailer Park Boys 101" special as hosted by Alex Lifeson (Rush) was worth it to me.

This double-length episode on its own is one of the best the series ever produced. Taking place in 1997, well before the fictional adventures of Ricky, Julian, and Bubbles were documented, this episode reveals a lot of TPB backstory and delivers a lot of laughs.

Ricky is bailed out of jail for Christmas to help Julian with his present stealing racket. Ricky's unhappy because Christmas is the best time to be in jail ("12 days of partying," Ricky says). It doesn't take long for Lahey to get wise to the scheme, and with new friend Randall in tow, promptly gets back into the booze. In the meantime, Jamie and Tyrone discover rap music while Corey and Trevor become sidekicks.

Some of the funniest dialogue in the show's history was right here in the Christmas special. Ricky mistaking God for Santa Claus is priceless (if you're not offended). By the time you get to his big speech at the end, ("Christmas is about getting drunk and stoned with your family!") you'll be howling.

Like I said, this is hilarious if you're not easily offended. If you are, I would advise you to stay far away from everything Trailer Park Boys. If you enjoy well delivered, largely improvised dialogue performed by Canada's best, then dig in for some Christmas dinner.

The special features here are the typical TPB fare. Alternate takes, extended takes, bloopers, and so on abound, making this worth your coin. As I mentioned before, to make up for the lack of the Conky puppet, you get the Alex Lifeson documentary. As a Rush and TPB fan, this was worth the re-buy for me. You also get a preview for the first TPB movie, although this is well out of date now.

Merry Christmas, make sure mom is nowhere around when you watch this!

Awesome Movie..I bought the movie for 9.99 at hmv on boxing day and have no reason to regret doing soo. seeing J-roc when he was jamie, also seeing corey and trevor when they were called nerds(even though they still are) PICK THIS MOVIE UP IT ROCKS

If you've seen one trailer park boys christmas special, don't buy this one because there is only one. Amazon is kind of misleading people by telling them that this is a new release when in actuality it was made in 2004.

For those that haven't seen the Christmas special, it's pretty funny. It was the first episode I ever saw, and it actually goes into a lot of backgroud of the park.

If you want a great christmas you buy this dvd invite your friends and family around sit down and make them watch it until they to get hooked on it or if your like me and spend christmas at work take this with you and you will be sure to have a merry christmas.

This movie is just as funny as the tv series. It was also interesting to find out how the s**t mobile came to be.

The Trailer Park Boys christmas special was garantee to be funny as hell! This episode along with The (american Office's christmas episode in season 2 are the two weirdest and funniest christmas shows I've seen!

This is a prequel so its funnier if you are familiar with the Trailer Park Boys material before you watch. Watch out, you will also have many hours of fun with the Conky finger-puppet!

I ordered this DVD because I wanted the puppet that was included. I was going to use it for a joke on a family member. The DVD arrived on time but there was no puppet. I sent an email complaining about it and have not heard anything back. The add clearly says that the puppet is included.I would like to have the puppet or my money back. :(

It was a waste of money and time. i sent it back. it was not what it says it was supposed to be. Very Very Disappointed........

Hilarious. For the low price they are selling this I am getting one for everyone on my list. How are the people who created this getting paid? Awesome, watch it every year.

Another great TPB special that is a prequel to the series. Just plain LYAO un-educated humor. Liquor, dope, and christmas re-marketing at its finest.

A must have for the TPB Fan. Also has a cool special feature on the dvd called TPB 101. Narrated by Alex Lifeson describing the characters, craziness and the love/hate community relationships in the Sunnyvale Trailer Park.
