This is the 1976 Streisand/Kristofferson version of A Star Is Born. The DVD features 5.1 surround sound, a great transfer and lots of extras including commentary by Barbra. A must have for Streisand fans.

I don't have time to give a review that it at least 20 words long. What's wrong with just giving a star rating?

I was quite disappointed in the DVD, as it had several skips and freeze frames in the beginning. I will be calling Amazon regarding this, but am hoping that DVD can be replaced.

I know some people say that the version of "A Star is Born" with Judy Garland, is THE best version. Well....even though I am a fan of Garland's, I have to say the Striesand/Kristofferson version is far superior. This is the movie that established a whole new (younger) fan base for Striesand, proving that she could rock with the rest of the "disco divas " of that era ! And Kristofferson plays his part of a burnt out rock star well ( although some people say, he was just being his self, as he did have a reputation at the time this movie was filmed)
I would recommend this film for family viewing as there is no harsh language and the music is great! I would also suggest, ordering the re-mastered CD soundtrack at the same time.
