Alyssa makes you yank your yanker
She is pretyy pretty pretty and wears plenty of skimpy clothes here, a masterpiece of b-film cinema.

Quirky Movie with an All Star Cast.
It's a shame that you can get an all star cast like Sean Penn, Robert Downey Jr, Patrick Dempsey, and Malcolm Mcdowell, and many others and get such a slow paced, corny, movie. The movie is about a pool cleaner named Hugo, played by the charming Alyssa Milano, and her eccentric clients as well as her crazy parents(Mcdowell and Cathy Moriarty). The movie is cute and quirky...

Quirky Movie with an All Star Cast., Aoû 21 2001
It's a shame that you can get an all star cast like Sean Penn, Robert Downey Jr, Patrick Dempsey, and Malcolm Mcdowell, and many others and get such a slow paced, corny, movie. The movie is about a pool cleaner named Hugo, played by the charming Alyssa Milano, and her eccentric clients as well as her crazy parents(Mcdowell and Cathy Moriarty). The movie is cute and quirky but moves wat too slow. I never cared about any of the characters except Alyssa Milano's and Patrick Dempsey, who plays a parapalegic who falls in love with Hugo. Whenever there was a scene without Alyssa Milano the movie bore me too tears. Thank God she is in most of the movie. Sean Penn is terrible a guy who wears blue suede shoes and Robert Downey Jr is way over the top as a eccentric dutch alchoholic. Instead of caring about these characters I felt sorry for them. i highly recommend this film for Alyssa Milano fans. She is a revelation in this movie. Too bad the rest of the talented cast is wasted.

1st film i've seen by mr. downey senior, Mars 7 2004
whether or not this film cna even hold water next to classic like "putney swope" or " greaser's place" is beyond me. i've never seen either so i can't really speak of the body of mr. downey's work but this film was rather quirky & at times cute. i'm a bit of a alyssa fan already with the tv series "charmed" or her role in the 2nd entry of the poison ivy film series. it's hard to dislike a film like hugo pool although i'm sure it would very easy to criticize it without much effort. by far, this is most unusual film i've ever seen ms. milano in but she is charming as always & perhaps one of the few sane individuals here. it's a typical day at hugo pool. there are 44 pools that need to cleaned & a gangster who insists on having his pool filled by 6:30 pm. not knowing which way to turn, hugo dugay decides to get a little help from some family members such as her drunkard for a father(malcolm mcdowell) & her mother(cathy moriarty) who is a compulsive gambler. the characters we meet throughout the film are as quirky & original as any you are apt to see in a typical hollywood comedy but one can't help but be touched by patrick dempsey's character. overall, the film is sweet & relatively funny but i'm sure if this is a film for everyone. definately worth seeing atleast once. if nothing else, there are some great performances here by a terrific cast such as sean penn & robert downey jr to name a few.

Hugo Pool is a GREAT movie i think...Any Alyssa Milano fan would love this movie! shes cute and her acting is great in it! even if u dont like Alyssa this movie is good movie for people who like drama, romance and comedy! highly recommend buying it!!

Hugo Pool to me didnt seem to have a definate story line to it. I do love the movie though, simply because the lovely Alyssa Milano is in it. Without Alyssa the movie wouldnt be as good as it is.
I enjoyed Cathy Moriarty's character.
I did also feel for Patrick Dempsey's character to.

Great Alyssa Milano Vehicle, If nothing else...., Janv. 7 2004
I first saw this movie when it was on cable and since my eyes (among other things) perk up when I see the lovely and much underrated Alyssa Milano, I purchased the DVD recently.As a movie, it has its charms, although practically all the actors should be wearing "contractual obligation" t-shirts because their efforts and expressions fairly shout out "I can't believe I'm doing this either". Where to begin? Well, Alyssa Milano shines in this movie, it is hers and her mere presence elevates every scene she is in. Cathy Moriarty does well as her mother and deserves more screen time.
Malcolm Mc Dowell does a passable job in the cartoonishly irresponsible and drug addled role of the father. It's all downhill from there, except for Patrick Dempsey in what is essentially an non-speaking role. I've always liked his work. I would say that Sean Penn is woefully miscast and under used in his role, evoking memories of "Rain Man" as a character of no fixed purpose except to give Hugo's Father someone to talk to on the journey to get some water from the Colorado River. OH! and the blue shoes, mustn't forget them. Robert Downey Jr. Appears to have gone the method route as a completely insane and one must assume drug addicted Hollywood director. His performance might be easier to watch if it were not for his recent troubles making one think his performance is a "little too good".
Richard Lewis essentially plays himself, neuroses and all, except for being a feared mobster whose request for water to fill his 5,000 gallon pool during a drought drives the subplot containing Penn and McDowell. There are scattered colorful characters here and there that Hugo encounters on the course of her busy day that provide amusement. This DVD is hardly a classic and were it not for Ms. Milano it would be a coaster on my coffee table. She is beautiful, talented and funny and just needs a breakout role to put her over the top. Something that will make the world take notice. In summary, I feel this is an okay DVD to rent if you want 93 minutes to kill with mild amusement. Buy it only if you're a true Alyssa fan. You won't be dissapointed either way.

Full Screen???, Oct. 12 2002
I really liked this movie and I will buy it, but why in the name of all-that-is-holy is this DVD in Full Screen only?!? I don't even like to buy non-anamorphic DVDs, but to not even have a widescreen version is insane!

"Hugo Pool" is a comedy/drama with a addictive quality. On first viewing it seems uneven and uninteresting, but a balanced and talented cast help you climb inside the characters heads. The film follows a day in the life of pool cleaner Hugo. She has 40 clients -including a mob boss who doesn't want disapointing - and one pair of hands. So she asks her gambling mother and father to help her through the day. All in all "Hugo Pool" is a cleverly written and enjoyable film.

Strange?..............Not!!!!!, Nov. 18 2001
This video is quite good, even for us strange movie lovers. I love Alyssa Milano, and she does some of her best acting as Hugo. The strangest part of the film, is the part with Sean Penn, which to this date, I still have no idea why he was even in it. Why in the world would someone be drawing water, for a pool, from a lake?? The ending was not what I expected, but do give this movie a try. It'll be worth it!!

I am one for the unusual. Scarry movies don't scare me unless they are the calibur of 'Straw Dogs'? (it came close to scarring the _hit outta me). I loved the weird come-off's; the guy asking the lil boy if he had told his step-father that 'he was a piece of _hit'. . and everything 'ring-dang-doo'. My son from the Air Force knew that I would love this movie and rented it for me. I BOUGHT MY OWN ON DVD. I am one who thinks that "The Three Amigo's" was anything BUT a 1986 box office flop. . .(of course, I like music, western's, air planes, singing horses, bar scene. . MUST I GO ON!!!!!)
