5.0 out of 5 stars one of the funniest movies ever
This is definentely one of the top 10 funniest movies ever. There is never a dull moment in this movie which sets out to parody such action films as Rambo, and The Terminator. As the movie begins, US troops are being sent to rescue troops captured during the Gulf War, and to kill a guy. This review is from: Hot Shots / Hot Shots! Part Deux (Double Feature) (DVD)
A wonder parody of all the most recognizable films to the date its release. Charlie Sheen is great as the straight man, who has everything happen all around him. Lloyd Bridges was a lunatic, but delivered his insane lines with marvelous control. I don't know how they do this sometimes. These are a couple of the best films of this genre, and a must have for anyone who enjoys crazy comedy.

comedy into the movie,at the expense of everything else.the actors
weren't as convincing in this film.most of the film bordered on being
absurd, even ludicrous, and not in a good way.fairly lame all around
actually.i'm glad they stopped at 2, because a 3rd one would have been
beyond ridiculous. 2.7/5

5.0 out of 5 stars one of the funniest movies ever, July 16 2004

This is definentely one of the top 10 funniest movies ever. There is never a dull moment in this movie which sets out to parody such action films as Rambo, and The Terminator. As the movie begins, US troops are being sent to rescue troops captured during the Gulf War, and to kill a guy. After the mission is failed, the president of the United States [Lloyd Bridges, who is absolutely hilarious as the president] needs to find Topper Harley to rescue the troops. They find Topper in the far east during a kickboxing match, and discover Topper is living with Buddhists. Topper agrees to go on a mission to rescue troops in Iraq. He gets deployed with several other troops near a jungle where they will be able to ambush the Iraqis. This movie has so many classic parts. I think the funniest are the Apocolypse Now parody with Martin Sheen, the kickboxing part, and any part in the movie involving Lloyd Bridges, the best probably being when he is talking to his cabinet about the captured soldiers[sabotage, what does it mean?] I hope you thoroughly enjoy this movie, I did.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent parody, April 17 2004
By
"old1stidarmy" (Kansas City, MO USA) - See all my reviews
This movie is a special treat for mature war film buffs. It has great over-the-top acting with truely masterful comedic performances from a cast of veteran actors. Charlie Sheen has the ripped tough guy look downpat. The late Richard Crenna plays a perfect straight hard core military officer. Well paced, excellent production values, photography, sound effects, multiple layers of humor, with sight gags, and dialogue that uses many double meanings. LLoyd Bridges does a scene reminiscent of the famous early 1960's "Sea Hunt" series that is a side splitter. Tremendous political satire of Pres.Bush 41, and Saddam Hussein. The movie uses sexual situations and word play masterfully.( Ex. An Iraqi interrogator using Yiddish expressions) "Hot Shots! Part Duex" wickedly parodies the gun violence and martial arts in many action movies. If you have seen the TV series Sea Hunt, American Gladiators; the movies: Rambo, Navy Seals, Terminator II, KickBoxer, Apocalypse Now and know anything about the Iraq War.. you'll just fall out of your chair laughing. What "Blazing Saddles" did to the Western Genre and "Spaceballs" does to science fiction and "Shrek" did to animated films.. "Hot Shots! Part Duex" does to action war films.

4.0 out of 5 stars ...between Iraq and A Hard Place, Feb 20 2004
By

If you like comedies, movies about the military, or comedy movies about the military, then grab this one. It's fully loaded with great site gags, one-liners, and jabs at those "serious" military flicks. A great group of cast members who play off each other remarkably well. You'll laugh yourself right out of your camouflaged BVDs.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hilarious, Sexy!, Feb 9 2004
By A Customer
I love this movie on two different levels: one is for its hysterical take on a multitude of sacred cows. But I also love it because I get to see one of the sexiest star turns ever: Charlie Sheen. I was amazed at his stunning torso, which--unfortunately--he keeps covered up for most of the picture. In his early scenes, though, the camera films him from back as he ties on his headpiece. Then he slowly turns and Pow! He is something else. In fact, every scene he's in has that incongruously sexy aura surrounding Sheen that's almost unheard of in American movie comedies. Why he didn't continue for a few more beefcake movies after this is a mystery. IT would certainly have attracted even more fans. At least in this sequel, we get to see that marvelous, rippling torso of la Sheen, in addition to seeing one of the funniest comedies ever.

Unlike the original Hot Shots which was very funny and highly recommended, this sequel is a stinker. Save your money for another DVD. If you're curious, rent it instead.

5.0 out of 5 stars RE-ARMED,RE-UNITED,RE-DICULOUS,BUT TRULY HILARIOUS SEQUEL, Mar 24 2003
By A Customer
"HOT SHOTS,PART DEUX" IS A HILARIOUS FILM SINCE "AIRPLANE", AND I WATCH THIS FILM WHENEVER IT'S ON HBO OR I MIGHT OWN IT ON DVD. IT WAS BETTER AND FUNNIER THAN THE FIRST, MOSTLY BECAUSE IT LAMPOONS OTHER FILMS LIKE "RAMBO","LADY AND THE TRAMP",AND EVEN "TERMINATOR 2". BUT THIS ONE IS THE FUNNIEST AND I LIKE IT MORE THAN PART 1, THE SCENE WERE THE FIGHT WITH CHARLIE SHEEN AND THE JAPANESE GUY WAS HILARIOUS, ALL THE OTHER SCENES WERE ABSOLUTELY HILARIOUS. A REALLY FUNNY SEQUEL TO LIKE, IF YOU LIKE OTHER JOKE OR LAMPOONED MOVIES, THIS IS NUMBER 1 AND THE BEST.
