It's a remote, people--you don't need to read a review!
Actually it is a pretty cool thing not having to aim the remote at the device--why did G-d wait so long to invent Bluetooth? The regular infrared remotes seem pretty lame now by comparison. I was 'fessing up to the wife that I made another unnecessary purchase, she pressed a button on it, and the PS3 beeped turning on from a different room, through a concrete wall (not that that's practical in any way).
I know you can use the DualShock as a remote, but it's unwieldy and non-intuitive. At $14 (sale price) it's a steal; at any price, it's a pretty cool device. So go ahead and stimulate the economy. Buy! Buy! Buy!
Downside is, it won't control anything else.
And like the guy below me, I love my PS3 as well! Though the way he says it, it kinda creeps me out.

Awesome controller, great amount of functionality and since it's Bluetooth, no need to have a direct line of sight with the PS3 so you can hide the system's lights for full cinematic immersion. It's not without faults, however.

Unlike all other Playstation controllers (even the PS2 IR remote), this one activates the PS3 at the touch of any button with no dead man switch to confirm turning on the system. This has lead to me having my PS3 run for hours because the controller was nicked by something before leaving the home. The PS3 has thankfully added an "automatic power-off", but it's still not enough for someone who uses the system for both gaming and video, since the options for the functionality are limited.

In short, the Home button should have been the only one that activates the PS3. It's well placed to avoid accidentally hitting it, so the system should be patched as such to take this into account.

The remote was a perfect addition to my PS3, I watch Bluray disks all the time. It was the cheapest price and it works amazingly.

Most of the All in one remotes are not compatible with the PS3
This one is compatible with the PS3, but will not control your TV (even a Sony one) or any other component of your home theatre system
So we keep piling up remotes, again...

This remote is especially very handy to people who aren't into gaming, but just want to watch a movie and such. Not only that but it's got bluetooth built in so no more infared.

What i really like is the moment you press any button on the remote when the system is off, the system opens up right away without having to go to the system directly to turn it on.

If you watch alot of movies and as i said previously, have people who aren't into games, this is the right choice and the price is very reasonable.

We use our PS3 as our main DVD/Bluray player and finally got tired of using the game controllers for selection. The remote control is easy to use and great to have. Unfortunately it's quite unattractive.

If your sick of using your playstation game controller to flick through movies this is the right product for you.

Great for watching movies.

Much easier to use than the game controller for disc navigation. Even though it has all the necessary buttons I could not use it as an extra controller to play a game.

I agree with all other reviews, what can I say: if you watch media with your PS3 this is much cheaper than buying a controller when you don't have any (like happened to me). This is a great remote and the BT connection means no aiming at the PS3 - a nice, unique touch.

Does exactly what a PS3 remote is intended to. Worked without problems of any kind. If you use the PS3 to watch a lot of movies i would definitely encourage you to get this.
