It took a few episodes to really get going,but after you reach disc 5,you can become an addict of the series.It's interesting to see the beginning of a show that lasted 20 years.At it's best,GUNSMOKE manage to be more than just another western.There are of course the usual clichés of the genre like the gunfighters who want to try the marshall's skills with a gun,but GUNSMOKE goes beyond those traps and even those 25 minutes episodes are often gripping dramas.The human nature at it's best or at it's worst is what you get when you put this collection on your dvd device.Among the guest stars of this first year are CLAUDE AKINS,JAMES DRURY,CHARLES BRONSON,CHUCK CONNORS,LOLA ALBRIGHT,AARON SPELLING(the future producer),ROBERT VAUGHN,ROBERT MIDDLETON,DAN BLOCKER etc.So get on your sofa and let MATT,CHESTER,DOC AND KITTY entertain you.There are 635 episodes of GUNSMOKE,596 are awaiting us in the upcomming years.Can't wait for season 2,even if i know that MATT will never marry KITTY.
