Not as good as When Night is Falling,

This review is from: GYMNAST, THE [Import] (DVD)
Dreya Weber's acting is not as good as in A Marine Story. The story line about how a woman is able to pick herself up and dust herself off is well-written, but predictable and I didn't really feel the connection between the two leading ladies. The dancing was cool, but I didn't feel as mesmerized as I did with Quand Tombe La Nuit (When Night is Falling). Something was missing for me. I was a little disappointed since my expectations were high after having seen A Marine Story.

Boring and cliché,
This review is from: GYMNAST, THE [Import] (DVD)
The Gymnast is a story of self-discoveries and being yourself. The acting was pretty decent, especially considering what they had to work with. The story is actually very interesting, but is ruined by how cliché Jane's husband is. It wouldn't have been that bad if his role had been very minor, but I quickly became bored with how much of a flat, personality-less jackass he was. The Gymnast tandem is beautiful, sensual and memorable.I didn't like this movie very much, but some could possibly enjoy it. To the exception of the gymnastic choreography, nothing of this movie was particularly remarkable. I would say, if it is possible, rent it before buying it. |
