I grew up in a very loving home, so I relate to this movie a lot, although I am Jewish, I always loved christmas time, so festive and all. My parents and family have always been very receiving so I know all about this, it is almost like they were talking about my family except that I have brothers and sisters.

Fun Christmas movie with mediocre acting
This is the kind of movie I enjoy around Christmas time. Fun, light-hearted, has the happily-ever-after ending, but it's certainly not Academy Award material. The acting and the story is very "made for TV" but since I didn't expect anything other than that I wasn't disappointed by it. It was just a feel-good Christmas romance to while away a snowy afternoon. Enjoyable...

This is a nice warm story to be enjoyed over the holidays. Something easy to watch without violence and language. A real change to enjoy.

Lovely Christmas romantic movie, Oct. 23 2009
First time I saw this movie on TV, it caught my attention and I loved it. Everything from the scenery (it is actually Nevada City, CA) to the actors (Ed Asner is great in his role) makes it worth viewing.
The story centers around a soldier returning from Afganistan after an extended tour of duty. He received a Christmas Card while overseas which captures his heart and a yearning for home and family. The card is written by a young woman in a small town where family and friends are more important than what someone owns or who they know. Upon his visit to Nevada City, he falls in love with the town, the family, and of course, the woman. It has a gentle romantic overtone, along with a theme of supporting those in the armed forces, dedicating their lives for home and country.
It is thoroughly enjoyable and you will surely watch it each year around the holidays.

Great Christmas Movie!!, Sep 18 2009
I LOVED this Christmas movie. It had a great story line and is a different kind of Christmas movie to watch. I recommend this movie to anyone.

This is the kind of movie I enjoy around Christmas time. Fun, light-hearted, has the happily-ever-after ending, but it's certainly not Academy Award material. The acting and the story is very "made for TV" but since I didn't expect anything other than that I wasn't disappointed by it. It was just a feel-good Christmas romance to while away a snowy afternoon. Enjoyable but predictable with a little bit of cheese on the side just to make me smile, but it won't go on my "must watch over and over" shelf.
