Being a Supertramp Fan all my life, owning all their albums, enjoying as one person puts it. "the music of our youth". I was really excited to watch this concert. The DVD is a must have for any serious fan, at first you might be weary that there are only two people on stage, worry not. The entire set is wonderful. There is a connection for Roger and Montreal that is obvious from the start to the finish of this dvd.
Top notch recording, lighting, the audio is very well recorded
A truly great performance by the man than many Canadians grew up listening to

Enjoy !!! well worth the price

5.0 out of 5 stars Roger rules!, Feb 7 2011
This review is from: Roger Hodgson: Take the Long Way Home - Live in Montreal (DVD)
This DVD is fantastic. I was a bit leary of buying it at first, as there is no percussion & I thought it might sound a bit devoid of life. It does take some getting used to, but it grows on you. Roger really connects with the audience, the sound & video editing are well done. Roger's voice has not lost any of it's clarity or range. The extras are a nice touch as well. Now if only Roger & Rick Davies would reunite....

I just purchased this to add to my collection of live concerts, I must say that it is worth the money as I am EXTREMELY fussy when it comes to the quality of the camera work and sound. My home theater system via my over head projector displayed a very acceptable show.

5.0 out of 5 stars Definitely Should Be Added To Your Collection, Jan 19 2008

My wife and I watched this DVD last night and just loved it. It was just him and a saxophonist but the sound was very full and the songs sounded just like Supertramp. There were a couple of songs that needed to be a little fuller and lacked some punch but it definitely didn't detract from the enjoyment of the song. Most of the songs were from his Supertramp days with a few new ones added. The sound was top quality with DTS; this made it very enjoyable with the sound level pumped up.
I would definitely recommend adding this DVD to your collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars I was there!, Aug 4 2006

June 6, Places des arts, Montreal

This day was simply amazing. I was there in the front row with my parents and nine of my friends to see the concert of my idol, Roger Hodgson. It was a few minutes before the concert, and we could already start to feel the anticipation of the crowd. The spectators whistled and cheered the legend as he strode onto the stage. The cameras were ready to roll. Suddenly, my friends David and Lyne held up a blue banner that read: "MONTREAL LOVES ROGER HODGSON." It didn't take more than that to make the crowd roar like crazy. A few minutes later, the lights finally went out with Roger receiving a standing ovation of several minutes. The crowd applauded, shouted, whistled... what they were saying was: "Welcome back to Montreal Roger, we missed you!." The concert was, well just in one word, it was FABULOUS! This was my 20th Roger Hodgson concert and it was one of the best I've have ever seen. He played all his Supertramp classics, some solo songs (old and new). "Even in the Quietest Moment's" left me stunned. What a great concert it was!

Recently, before another sold out show in Northeast Quebec, I was lucky enough to be able to view a rough-cut copy of the first 20 minutes of the forthcoming DVD, and I have to say how deeply touched I was. A Few minutes of the show was enough to give me shivers and put tears in my eyes. It is difficult to explain, however the DVD is so well filmed and edited that it's impossible to remain insensitive. When I saw it, I was so into it that it felt like I was really back there... in the first row with my parents and friends, and the gamut of the excitement and emotions we went thorough!

I just can't wait to listen to the DVD again. It will make a wonderful souvenir to all of his fans worldwide. When I miss Roger... I will be able to listen to the DVD and it will take me back to that magical day on June 6, 2006 in Montreal where Roger put Heart, Soul, and Voice into the word Musicianship.

Even if I haven't seen this DVD yet, I can say that it will be a delight to watch all over again! That's why I give it 5 stars! I was one of the crazed fans who welcomed Roger Hodgson on June 6th at the Place des Arts in Montreal. That night was unforgettable and magical! I don't know how it will translate to the screen, but let me tell you that it was one of the best nights of my life and certainly the best show I've seen in my whole existence! A little bird also told me that it was very emotional to watch! I already pre-ordered my copy. No way I'm going to miss that!
