5.0 out of 5 stars A lesson to other sequels/franchises/trilogies
This is an immensely solid followup to an already strong series. The caliber of actors they've been able to bring into this series is amazing, and story and character are never sacrificed for action. And the writers really make an effort to go back and reference the earlier films. Specifically 'operation black briar' which was briefly mentioned at the end of film one, and...

1.0 out of 5 stars Piece of garbage
This movie is one long chase scene. And that's it. It insults your intelligence. The interaction between characters is non existent and so is the dialogue. The CIA is just so good at finding who did it by just punching it up on a computer in a room full of people in New York. But they can't seem to catch one guy across how many places? And why exactly? Because he was part...

This is an immensely solid followup to an already strong series. The caliber of actors they've been able to bring into this series is amazing, and story and character are never sacrificed for action. And the writers really make an effort to go back and reference the earlier films. Specifically 'operation black briar' which was briefly mentioned at the end of film one, and also Bourne quoting something Clive Owen said to him in the first film.

Even the best of film series tend to fall apart by their third installment (I'm looking at you Spiderman and X-men) but this film was a pleasent surprise that lived up to, continued and from the looks of it concluded the Bourne saga.

4.0 out of 5 stars Motion sickness possible but great otherwise, Nov 23 2007

This was far better than #2 and explained many of the things which you were left thinking "How was that possible" from the second one. While there was thankfully not the overkill of car chases in this one, the over use of the hand cam, running after the action did leave you with a strong feeling of motion sickness, even from the back of the theater. Hopefully this will not be so with the DVD.
Otherwise it's one of the best movies this year.

4.0 out of 5 stars back on song, Mar 14 2009

After the pedestrian 2nd flick in the Bourne series, it was great to see the 3rd (Ultimatum) hitting almost all the right notes. The last 20 minutes drags and the flashback scenes get tiresome which is all that prevents this from a 5-star rating in my books.

This movie also shows the benefit of getting actors who can actually act in all the secondary roles.

On a side note, where do these people get the energy when they never eat or drink anything in the entire movie? I'm just saying.

The extras on the DVD are first-rate including showing how they shot the chase and fight scenes as well as giving us a world tour of all the location shoots. Obligatory director's commentary track and deleted scenes included, too.

Matt Damon is perfect for the part. I read the book fisrt and pictures a guy like him. He is true to the part, the director keeps it as Robert Ludlum wrote it. 10 out of 10

4.0 out of 5 stars Possibly the best in the series, Dec 30 2007

The Bourne series proves to be one that continues to be worth watching with this, the third installment of the popular saga based on Robert Ludlum's novels. This installment is a vast improvement on the 2nd film, which was mediocre at best, and stands on par with the classic first film of the franchise.

"The Bourne Ultimatum" is by far the most revealing episode of the series as Bourne continuously learns revealing bits and pieces of who he is, all while the CIA is trying to thwart his attempts by assasinating him. The action never really lets up in this movie and Matt Damon does a fanatastic acting job, as has been customary of him. In a year marred with bad "threequels" such as the SpiderMan and Pirates of the Carribean entries, this film truly shines.

I have the 2 previous movies of Bourne and I had to buy the third one "Bourne Ultimatum". It is an amazing movie!!! Full of action and the story line keeps you on the edge of your seat. Love it! Cannot wait to see the 4th Bourne movie!

ok i din nt like the second bourne, it wasnt bad but the camera was too shacky. So i din nt except anything from that one. And its good, fast pacing, brilliant bourne, nice fight. A good action movie, intelligent, far from hollywood standard.(the camera is just shacking a bit now)
And buy the way i have read all the bourne book. Its not as good as the book (hell it not even related) but its sure is a good bourne.

The CIA is just so good at finding who did it by just punching it up on a computer in a room full of people in New York. But they can't seem to catch one guy across how many places? And why exactly? Because he was part of some secret program. Who cares? This was all played out in the 80's and is old news. Oh yeah and those people in New York that can see everyone and everything anywhere in the world. Funny how they need to punch up the pictures of their own agents on their computers and put it on a screen that has a current picture that was taken minutes ago. They are so good it even has the female agents blond streaks of her current coif. Crap if I ever saw it. And that reporter was such a threat they had to kill him in the middle of a crowded London Mall. And it was so easy to find out who the inside leak was by checking to see who was not using their cell phone by once again using that computer. Should have let the computer catch Bourne. But that would mean the movie would be over in 5 minutes. Don't waste your time or your money watching or buying this junk. I'm sorry I did.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Movie - Less Expensive Elsewhere, Dec 11 2007
This movie is exciting, not the weakest in the series.
Why is it selling for $14.99 on amazon.com? Future Shop is selling both full screen and widescreen editions for $19.99
