When I first heard that the Junkies were doing a rerecording of the Trinity Sessions, my reaction was 'why would they want to do that for'. However, giving the ablum a listen, it caught my attention immediately and held it. The guest artists, the arrangements, and the high quality recording brought the music to a new level. Ryan Adams performance of 200 More Miles is worth the price of the album by itself. Other highlights include Margo and Natalie Merchant's vocals on Working on a Building and Vic Chestnutt on Blue Moon Revisited and Dreaming My Dreams With You. I would recommend this album, even for marginal fans of the Junkies.

This is not just a remake of the original Trinity Sessions. It is a much more elaborate production, but still recorded in the "circle" format, although everyone is individually miked (only one mike in the original). Extra players/singers Ryan Adams, Natalie Merchant and Vic Chesnutt add a lot. I particularly like Natalie's duet with Margo on Misguided Angel. Can't get it out of my head.

This is a two-disk package, although you would hardly know it from the promo here -- it's only in the details and the product description, otherwise it looks like just a CD. The DVD is absolutely great, and the 5.1 audio is very very special. Both visual and audio quality is very high on the base recording, and the extras (a documentary especially) are very interesting, and shows some of the actual rehearsal time, working out arrangements.

It's really worth getting, highly recommended.
