Scott Baio, O Kaio!
Let me start this review by saying that I am a little biased. I LOVE Scott Baio! I have Chachi boxer shorts, a Charles in Charge poster above my bed, and I celebrate his birthday every year (Sep. 22). Now let me tell you that Zapped is the best movie about a high schooler with special powers (as if being Scott Baio isn't power enough!) I have ever seen! Baio and...

You Can telekinesis, but will he listen?, Janv. 20 2007
They say power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. I wonder?
A laboratory explosion (caused by some very common substances in uncommon combinations) resulting in telekinesis. It could not happen to a better kid, Barney Springboro (Scott Baio) High school senior.
What would you do to flex your new found powers? His best buddy Peyton Nichols (Willie Aames) has plans, Las Vegas plans. Bernadette (Felice Schachter) has reservations. Oops it is prom time, can he resist the Carrie treatment? And what of his future?
We know that in real life Felice Schachter goes on to become the "1990 St. Pauli Girl"

Delivers exactly what you expect it to!, Mars 12 2002
Movies of this type are pretty rare nowdays, but during the mid-eighties they were everywhere.
What makes this movie stand out is it's charm.
The acting by the leads (Baio,Aames,Schachter & Thomas) is great and the characters, though a little stereo-typed,are well fleshed out.
Scatman Crothers is criminally underused as the wisecracking school coach and Robert Mandan and Sue Ane Langdon's affair doesn't really go anywhere.
Worth seeing if you're into the following:-
Scott Baio: Gives a great performance of the school scientist torn between his best friend's gambling stunts and the love of his girlfriend.
Heather Thomas:Fresh from 'The Fall Guy', Thomas plays the token snooty cheerleader and plays her very well.
The nudity content is a little too strong for youngsters which is a shame because this is an adolescent's perfect movie.

Weird Science, Fév 8 2002
High school science nerd Scott Baio develops telekinetic powers after mixing marijuana and plant food. He and buddy Willie Aames scheme to use it while gambling, playing baseball, and opening blouses...not necessarily in that order. Actually pretty funny (those who don't care for this sort of thing might want to pass) with a great supporting cast: Stuffy Robert Mandan as the principal, Sue Ann Langdon as a horny teacher, Heather Thomas as the snotty blonde bombshell, and Scatman Crothers is hilarious as the custodian. Baio's parents are particularly funny. Mindless fun for the "Porky's" and "Ridgemont High" crowd.

I wish I had those powers in high school, Fév 3 2002
Par Un client
First, this is not a very good movie, basically it stinks. The best part of the whole movie is when Baio uses the powers he magically obtained to remove the clothing from Heather Thomas and other chicks. The big prom scene in the end is funny. What high school kid would not like to be able to make the clothes of women magically come off. It is basically a ripoff of Carrie.

Completely selfish review!, Janv. 30 2002
Critics are generally not very nice to movies like this one. I guess THEY didn't grow up watching this kind of stuff and don't have those fond memories (which explains the 4 stars). The night me and my family got cable tv in the early 80s (first ones in the neighborhood) this hilarious flick was on. Nudity on the boob tube was still something new to us. So Zapped! was just about the coolest naughty movie I'd ever seen. Watching it now is still a delight! Just silly non-sense...but awfully fun! The young lady from The Facts of Life tv show is great (and looks like my niece). Baio may be a little TOO nerdy, but he and Aames are believable friends. Plus, anything with Scatman Crothers (The Shining, One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest, Twilight Zone: The Movie) is worth seeing. This could be the 1982 equivalent of movies like American Pie. Just leave your brain at the door, pop this in the machine and you'll find much to enjoy on a lazy saturday afternoon. Try a triple feature with Sixteen Candles and Just One of The Guys (or Weird Science and The Breakfast Club). NOTES: The sign outside the music store says "8 Tracks". I feel so OLD!! Speaking of, there are at least 2 terrific songs on the soundtrack, "Got to believe in Magic", "King and Queen of Hearts", etc. Worth the price alone.

So -so Movie Fantastic one liner, Déc 20 2001
Par Un client
I like many viewers saw Zappped! when I was a hormone crazed teenager. However even then I know what I was watching was drivel. However, Willie Ames character delivers a one liner of comeuppance to Heather Thomas character in the prom scene finale that is pure dialogue gold!! If you can catch this one cable one night or at the rental store wait for that scene it is priceless!!

Scott Baiowulf, Oct. 26 2001
Finally, a video re-release of Zapped!, most likely the finest 1980's T&A teenager flick of all time. If it had been available to buy 5 years ago, I wouldn't have had to steal my copy from a video store in Cleveland. Let's make something clear first, this is NOT a good movie. It's really bad. So bad it's good. When you put together a team of mediocre television actors, Scatman Crothers, a loose plot that exists for no other reason than to show T&A, and some of the most absurd dream sequences ever put to film, you have nowhere to go but insanity. And that's just where Zapped! takes you. Once you see it, you'll never forget it, even if you hate it. It's a film that will never be truly appreciated for it's chaotic genius and pure intentions (those intentions being - "let's show the kids some nudity" - what's more pure than that?). But what can we expect from a society that gives Tom Hanks awards for sap like Forrest Gump and completely ignores his truly shining moments in The Burbs? Now, if only they'd do a VHS reissue of Scott Baio's finest acting ever in the made for TV special "Stoned."
