5.0 out of 5 stars A Hair Band Classic, May 8 2004

Although many metalheads look upon this band and era disrespectfully, this is one of my all-time favorite albums. It is Poison-esque hair metal. Jani Lane, in spite of criticism that he could not sing, actually has a very pleasing voice, in my opinion. All of the songs on here are absolutely great. My personal favorites are Down Boys, Heaven, the title track, and many more. Heaven was a huge chart hit in 1988, reaching #2 on the Billboard singles chart. It is on of the best 80's power ballads. If you like Poison, you will probably love this band.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Down Boys Stand the Test of Time!, Jan 2 2004

I don't want to hear anybody say "hair rock" or "hair metal" as though it's a bad thing ever again.

This album has all the attitude a rock album needs with the hooks that you need and blazing guitar solos that are required to make a truly great rock 'n' roll record. If the fact that they are a hair band stops you from buying the album, you're missing out on some great music not just from this CD but from the whole genre.

To put this into perspective, 6 of the 10 songs on the CD made it to "Warrant's Greatest Hits" released a few years back. 32 Pennies, Down Boys, Big Talk, Sometimes She Cries, D. R. F. S. R, and the ballad Heaven. The other songs don't exactly stink up the place by any means. As I said, it's just a solid rock 'n' roll record!

That said, the only thing that I could take away from the album is the amount of songs on it that went straight to the greatest hits. It kind of is like "Why buy this when more than half the album is already on the greatest hits?" Well, I think the other 4 tunes are good enough to pay for but if you are the type that would rather just get a "greatest hits" album rather than get all the greatest hits by owning the actual albums, that might be a better idea. I, personally, like both. Greatest hits are nice to have for travel but great albums like this one are a must for any rocker. Pick it up! You'll be glad you did!
