5.0 out of 5 stars STILL BURNIN' HOT..., Nov. 13 2003
This review is from: Time To Burn (Audio CD)
Dann Huff, David Huff, Mike Brignardello and Alan Pasqua had the difficult task of puttin' out a follow-up album to the wonderful LAST OF THE RUNAWAYS. Many thought they couldn't quite do it...they were wrong.
TIME TO BURN, Giant's 2nd effort is a great AOR album, from the opening "Thunder and Lightning" to the killer "Get Use To It".
The album's agreat collection of AOR anthems, almost all co-written with the help of Brit producer Terry Thomas (Bad Company, Foreigner). The result is not as wonderful as it was on the first album (where almost 90% of the songs were co-writen by Mark Spiro), but it goes highly recommended.
"Stay" was the promo single for the record (though it had a different version, with more keyboards, and it was shorter in length).
"Now Until Forever" is a killer ballad, where "I'll Be There (When It's Over)" and "Without You" come as close as a radio-friendly AOR track could get.
Great AOR music, great production...get it now !!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Giant echoes a cherished age of rock, Aug. 24 2010
This review is from: Time to Burn (Audio CD)
This is one of the last albums of the heyday of melodic rock.

When talent ran deep for those bands ready to produce.

Giant is one of the most forgotten great bands, right there with bands like Winger and Steelheart.

This album has a lot of parrelels with Winger's Pull and certainly I'd suggest having both of these albums.

The music is a bit more stylized for the 90s, but retains that 80s melody.

Hard to say which album I would prefer between their first last of the Runaways but this album itself is just a standout, only one track I could pick as mediocre, that being Get Used To It.

Other tracks, such as Chained, Lost in Paradise and Thunder and Lightning are top notch rock anthems.
