JOEY is a friend to remember!,

When this series first debut on NBC, being such a massive FRIENDS fan, I could not wait to see it. Unfortunately my anticipation outweighed the reality of how it played as a broadcast show. However after viewing the identical shows without commercial interruption, I realise the show does miror the comedic level achieved on Friends. The supporting cast did provide a great array of characters for Matt Leblanc. When you view the shows in uninterrupted format, you appreciate the scripts and the arch of the storyline. This is one DVD series box-set that really plays out much better than how you remember viewing it in its original format. With the insertion of the additional non aired episodes the finale comes to a true close. If you already own the entire collection of Friends and would like more comedy in the same vein as FRIENDS than this series is a great option and actually worth purchasing!

This review is from: Joey: The Complete Second Season (DVD)
I have been waiting for this season to come out on DVD and finally it arrived but just in a different country. I bought it and it was not disappointing. I loved it so much. I have to say it wasn't quite as good as the first season but on a five scale I gave it a 4 and 1/2 compared to the first season (5). I really don't know why this show was cancelled. There were a couple of weak points in the show like Nick. Nick wasn't that bad it just seemed like he was a little out of place, but he was quite funny. Please just take my word for it and buy this. You will watch it over and over again like I have.On a seperate note the shipping is SO FAST. I bought it on a Sunday night and it arrived at my house on Thursday morning and I live in Illinois. I was very impressed.

I am so glad that Warner in Canada released this DVD. I've been waiting for it since the 1st season came out 2 years ago. And let me tell you, it was worth the wait. It was great to finally see how this show comes to an end.The shipping was faster than I expected too. I received the DVD just one day after it was released, and I live all the way down in Florida. Thanks agian Warner in Canada for finally giving this great show a second chance, and a second DVD.

Good but not quite Season One good,

In all fairness I would give this season a 3.5. I had never seen any of this season on TV and am grateful Warner to the North has seen fit to release this VERY capable season and show.I'm a big fan of Friends and cannot for the life of me figure out why even diehards HATE this show. It's somewhat of a generic extension of Friends but is still... Joey, a character I adore. Anyone expecting the quality of Friends with this slim new cast is a fool, that's what we call OVERexpecting to the point where the final product could never measure up. Ok this season had a few weak spots; "Zach" (Miguel A. Núñez Jr.) for one is a total obvious "pandering" character. I found him funny at times but in general his character and urban style delivery had ZERO place in this show. Then there was a string of bad eps; Joey and the Musical, the Sex Tape, and the Bachelor Thanksgiving were BAD. Three stinkers in a row. Then there's Andrea Anders. I think she didn't have the depth of an actress that was necessary to get these scripts where they needed to be. I think she was largely competent but lacking. The strong points outweighed the bad thankfully.. An episode which I'm told never aired called "the Critic" is VERY VERY good. The addition of "Jimmy" (Adam Goldberg) was a real coupe... his amazing "weird" energy lifted the show upon his entrance. While I thought Andrea Anders was a weaker link she has very good chemistry with Joey which helps the show be believable. Lastly, Joey, "Micheal" (Paulo Costanzo) and his mom "Gina" (Drea de Matteo) make up a very strong core that make the wheels turn even when the script is not up to standards. All in all just a consistently funny show that had issues this season for sure and would never have risen to the level of a Friends but none the less is a good comedy. BUY BUY BUY!

Living in Germany it is not always easy to get a hold of the fresh and funny American sitcoms. After season one was rudely placed into the Saturday afternoon broadcast window in Germany, I bought the first season on DVD and enjoyed it very much. I knew that there has been a second season, but I couldn't buy it from the US. By accident, and I mean a really lucky accident, I saw that it was released in Canada and bought it instantly. I don't regret it at all: the second season is as excellent as the first, the jokes seem almost funnier - a wonderful season. Even the import fee of 5 Euros doesn't annoy me the slightest.

Absolutely hilarious, inspired show chronicling the ups-and-downs of Joey Tribbiani's acting career, after relocating from New York to L.A., sans his "friends". Great writing, every bit as clever and snappy as its predecessor, "Friends," and featuring a superb new ensemble cast, it is both surprising and sad that it was cancelled by NBC.I was thrilled when I learned that Canada had come out with a legitimate DVD release of the Complete Second Season, and had to complete my collection after purchasing Season 1. I was a regular, religious viewer when the show was on the air, and was seriously miffed when NBC pulled it from the schedule less than halfway through the second season. Thank goodness for DVD! I was also royally peeved when the U.S. distributor declined to release Season 2 on DVD, based simply on "not enough cash flow" from the first one. Why didn't they just hold off until they could release it as a "complete series" set? Oh well, at last, it is finally in my possession, and I've been having a blast watching every laugh-out-loud funny moment! Just sad that I've only got two more episodes to go until it's all over!

A Must Have!,

It always amazes me why some decisions are made in the 'Land of TV' as to what series stays and what goes. This series was one that got sent to the wrong corner! It is worthy of continuing. The lead character, originally from FRIENDS, portrays the role with enough of a difference to not be just a poor relative to the parent show. Great underated TV I thought! Season 2 could easily have been a Season 10 if a wind up had not been needed to finish it off quickly. We've missed out on all the possible middle seasons!Oh well, sadly it's done now, but thankfully this final season (2)was released somewhere in the world on DVD in it's entirety for us all to enjoy now. Funny from start to finish.

It's another great season if you loved Joey Season 1. Zack and Jimmy are funny new characters added in Season 2. A lot of surprises happen and keep you laughing. I think they should have brought in some of the 'Friends' characters into the show somehow as guest stars. However, Joey was a DVD our family could enjoy together. Amazon was quick with the delivery and the DVDs arrived in perfect shape. I wish there were a season 3 to order!
