This review is from: The Dukes of Hazzard: Reunion! / Hazzard in Hollywood (Double Feature) (DVD)
The two reunion movies of the Dukes of Hazzard takes the viewer back to Hazzard. In the first of the two reunion movies; "The Dukes of Hazzard Reunion", Bo and Luke Duke return home to Hazzard for a celebration, Enos proposes to Daisy for marriage, and Rosco P Coltrane is now Commissioner Rosco P. Coltraine as Boss J.D.Hogg has passed away. The Duke Boy's are coerced into a race; where the General Lee has to race the 00 Mustang, with the stakes being very high, if the Duke's lose the race, a road is built over the Uncle Jesse Duke's Farm into the swamp; for a new Hazzard Theme Park. Rosco has cooked up a crooked deal with Mama Joe Max where he will earn a large sum of money if he can get the road built over the Duke farm into the swamp. Cooter will help the Dukes tune up the General Lee into race-match quality, if they can find the General Lee which seems to have gone missing!Enos proposes to Daisy in Enos style and Daisy accepts his proposal by saying YES to his proposal of marriage. Mama Joe Max has her mind on the 00 winning the race; and hires thugs to kidnap Daisy, before the race. Uncle Jesse, Bo, and Luke Duke, along with Enos start doing surveillence work and figure out where the kidnappers have Daisy. Daisy, gets the kidnappers helping her get ready for the wedding; as Mama Joe Max only wants to see that the Dukes lose the race so she can get the right of way built over the Duke farm into Hazzard Swamp. In traditional Duke's of Hazzard style, they outwit their crooks and race to the finish. The celebration, where residents of Hazzard is invited to Daisy and Enos's wedding has a few surprises. This was the final appearance of Denver Pyle as Uncle Jesse. Sorrell Booke who played the role of J.D. Hogg had passed away in 1994, several years before this reunion movie was made. The second movie, "The Dukes of Hazzard in Hollywood" has most of the original Hazzard cast take a trip to Hollywood, as they are trying to raise money for a new wing on the Hazzard Hospital. The movie was okay to see the reunion of most of the orignal cast members (less Uncle Jesse and J.D. Hogg) were all together once again. One of the funny moments in the movie, was Rosco P. Coltraine going to an automated teller at a Bank Machine. In my opinion, the movie was okay as far as seeing some of your favourite Dukes of Hazzard characters reunite once again for nastalgic sake, but the storyline lacked the luster of the original series. Still, if you are a Dukes of Hazzard series and original cast movie collector, or a Dukes of Hazzard fan, it is worth while having for your collection.
