Just like the series!
I took a chance and bought this movie because I got everything else form stargate sg-1 to stargate atlantis and the other movie, The Ark of truth. I was not even a bit disappointed with this movie!
This movie is simply like a 2 part episodes from the original series and they can do many more and I would buy them!
The comedy sticks, everything...

Good but not perfect
I have to say it's great to see the SG-1 cast back together again, while Atlantis has satisfied my Stargate fix over the past two years that show lacks the chemistry the SG-1 actors built up over 10 years.

Good but not perfect, Juil 30 2008
I have to say it's great to see the SG-1 cast back together again, while Atlantis has satisfied my Stargate fix over the past two years that show lacks the chemistry the SG-1 actors built up over 10 years.
Continuum harks back to the good old days of SG-1 and has a nostalgic feel to it throughout. Each of SG-1 cast has their moment in the sun, though Mitchell, Carter, and Jackson are the clear stars of the movie. There are also a number of nice cameos spread throughout the movie including Jack O'Neill. Continuum is better than Ark of Truth only because it did not have the same baggage coming into the movie.
Sadly, the story has been done before on SG-1 (Mobieus) though continuum does it on a much grander scale and the ending is extremely predictable. I think Continuum could have taken a few more rewrites. The major problem with Continuum is that while it seems bigger in scope, it still feels like a souped up episode rather than a movie.
I would highly recommend this movie to SG-1 fans but not to casual or new viewers of Stargate.

The comedy sticks, everything that was original to the series is all stuck together in this movie. If you are a fan of stargte you will not be one bit disappointed in this one.
Totally loved it!

And the price has dropped..., Mai 2 2008
ETA : Amazon.ca currently has two listings for Stargate Continuum. This listing prices the DVD at $23.99. Search Stargate and sort by release date. The second listing prices the DVD at $19.14. Save yourself $5!
Amazon has a tendency to mark their DVDs high and eventually the price lowers, by the time it is released. For example, The Ark of Truth originally listed at $26, but by the time it was released, it had dropped to $19.99. And the pre-order price guarantee does work! I have had it applied to many of my pre-orders. I hope that this will end the price debate.
As for the movie, expect great things! Fans of the website Gateworld, will have been able to read a review of the release. If you would like to read the review, simply Google for Gateworld. I copy this chunk from the review, and I hope that they don't mind:
"In addition to action and adventure, Stargate: Continuum is filled with heart and emotion. There are small character moments that just keep coming, and for those of us who have known and loved these characters for so many years, they are deeply touching. As the problem unfolds in the early minutes of the film, there is a palpable sense that this is the greatest problem SG-1 has ever faced -- and they may not be able to overcome it. They may not all survive."
I, for one, am so excited to get another Stargate movie! It is my hope that a few more films will follow. Purchasing these DVDs is the best way to show fan support.

Great to see all the actors again!, Aoû 4 2008
I enjoyed this episode of Stargate very much. After seeing it on tv for so many seasons, (I think there were 10 seasons), it was good to see it produced for the big screen again. Quick moving, entertaining, with lots of action. Very interesting premise and it leaves the door open for future episodes. I would certainly watch it again.

Ah, finally a good movie.......especially for fans., Sep 25 2008
Note: It really really helps to know the Stargate Characters before
viewing the movie.
I have been a fan of Stargate since the beginning. One of the great things
about this series is there is filming outside and its not all CGI and
studio shots.
When i purchased this movie, i was ready to be entertained up to a point, cause we are talking about Stargate...they can only do so much...
I got caught by surprise...the mood was great...nice to see all of our
friends back together..and we also have a great earh invasion scenario.
The special effects was just enough to stir emotions and really enjoy
the movie...along with good acting and a good script.
Love the Antartica scenes and the F15's.
A Keeper for sure.

Time and space, Jui 6 2009
The ending of the "Stargate SG-1" TV show left some threads dangling -- the last Goa'uld System Lord was still in hiding, and the Ori were still threatening the world.
Fortunately the Goa'uld plot threads are more or less tied up in "Stargate: Continuum," the second of the two Stargate direct-to-DVD movies. This movie is a bit of a mind-bender (especially with all the time-skipping and temporal wrinkles) but it brings back all the favorite characters (and some dead ones) and finishes the story off in true Stargate style.
SG-1 and General Jack O'Neill (Richard Dean Anderson) are watching the execution and extraction of Ba'al... but unfortunately, it's not the real Ba'al. The real Ba'al has time-traveled and altered the timeline, causing Teal'c (Christopher Judge), Vala (Claudia Black) and the Tok'ra to vanish, and resulting in Jack's death.
Unfortunately, this alternate timeline becomes more perilous after a year -- Earth is being threatened by the supreme System Lord Ba'al, his queen Qetesh (in Vala's body) and his First Prime Teal'c. But when Qetesh and Ba'al clash over his past on Earth, the altered SG-1 must band together to find and destroy Ba'al's time machine, and somehow restore the timeline to what it once was. Or to something resembling it.
"Stargate: The Ark of Truth" and "Stargate: Continuum" are basically intended to wrap up loose ends, and as a standalone story "Stargate Continuum" is not quite as satisfying as the television show was. And frankly, "Continuum" may need multiple viewings to keep up with the time-bouncing plotline -- it scrambled my brain on the first time.
But as a finale, it serves the Goa'uld storyline well -- lots of action, space battles, "snakeheads," and a way bigger budget that a TV episode would ever have allowed. And it has everything that you'd expect from "Stargate SG-1" -- icy strandings, some recurring characters (Apophis!), and alien nasties with overwhelming power. There's less of a moral dilemma here, but it's still pretty good.
It also has excellent scripting: plot threads drawn from the TV series, witty dialogue ("That is, after all, why we've come. Why we had to endure all of that singing. Get rid of the last bad guy and then there's cake"), and some nice quiet moments, such as Teal'c talking with Tomin about their bloodstained pasts. And they manage to throw some interesting twists at the audience, such as a shocking revelation about the Ori.
And seeing the actors as their SG-1 characters is like putting on a comfortable old shoe. Amanda Tapping and Michael Shanks are suitably brilliant and courageous, and Ben Browder gets to shine as a strong, slightly quirky soldier. Meanwhile, both Christopher Judge and Claudia Black are impressive as their "alternate timeline" selves who are still part of the Goa'uld empire.
And of course, Richard Dean Anderson utterly steals the show whenever he appears ("Hey, have you ever tried to find a bathroom in a pyramid?") and this is the last appearance of Don S. Davis as General Hammond. Rest in peace.
It's a little sad to see the main storylines of the Stargate universe end, but "Stargate: The Ark of Truth" and "Stargate: Continuum" are well worth seeing. Nice finales.

Please don't rate the movie based on the price, Avril 29 2008
Please stop rating the movie based on the price currently listed.
Yes, the price is high (for now). But the Pre-order guarantee does work. It worked last time with Stargate: Ark of truth. And writing a ton of negative comments about the price and nothing on the movie is going to accomplish nothing.
Now, this movie sounds great, and with the price of going to the movies these days skyrocketing, for me it's worth the price no matter what the cost (of course within reason).

Grossly inflated price in Canada, Avril 29 2008
Amazon Canada really don't want my business. Why is the Stargate: Continuum DVD is only $16.99 on Amazon America for pre-orders? Even the regular list price is about ten dollars higher in Canada. It's the same product from a sole source manufacturer. The last Stargate direct to DVD movie have dual UPC codes, one for MGM in the US and one for Fox/News Corporation in Canada. This price gouging must stop. Buy this DVD if you like the Stargate franchise, just not from Amazon Canada. At least until they reasonably match the US price. Which will drop prior to the July 29th release like the last release.
