Rating is 3.5 stars... "Bottoms up" gets 5 stars, but the other three movies are deserving anything between 3 and 3.75 stars. Read on to find out why....

Every now and then I wander into unchartered territory... I did a bit of research on this one before buying it. The title Bavarian Sex Comedy Collection may be misleading to some. Films are made in Germany and it is a collection alright, but then....

In terms of comedy, I expected more Burlesque and slapstick humor. These films are light-hearted and easy-going, but they are not hilarious. Some scenes are funny, at best. Kink-wise, the movies are in the sexy to nudie-cuties range. One movie is more soft-porn and does not fit in the mix. The scenarios are custom-made to support as much nudity as possible. They are very representative of the 70s. They reminded me of the British series (Confessions of.... and Carry on....), but in a less amusing way.. Call me old-fashioned if you wish, but the integrity and classiness of the 60s and 70s natural-looking beauty are still unsurpassed. Surgically altering god's creation is something I cannot understand. In these movies, the actresses are totally loveable, even in their physical imperfections.

The adders are a bunch of trailers promoting vintage skin flicks side-by-side with modern-day soft-porn. By the way, the packaging is garbage.

If your decade is the 70s or if you are a true woman-lover, you will enjoy these films as they are loaded with all sorts of nudity scenes. Otherwise , then stay away from it or do some more research before investing 20 dollars or so...

These films aren't hilarious, but they certainly have their moments. The packaging isn't "garbage", and included with the two DVDs is a short booklet explaining the German sex comedy, and giving a detailed background for each of the four films (with photos).
Run, Virgin, Run (1970) is very good. The Minister of Population (just another bureaucratic office) learns of a village in which the birth-rate is many times the national average, and he and (of course) his secretary go to the village to investigate. The locals say a seasonal wind from the Alps invigorates the men in the village, but wait till you see what's really behind the population explosion! This film has some hilarious and very erotic moments.
Bottoms Up (1974) has a surprisingly good plot, and is the best of this bunch. It's also my personal favourite. Full of fun, laughs, erotic moments, it's a delight. A must-see.
I Like The Girls Who Do (1973) is almost as good as Bottoms Up, and it's also a must-see. A young man's uncle dies suddenly (and in a unique way I should add) and leaves him his fortune... IF he collects seven amulets from seven women, and within seven days. What he has to do to get hold of these amulets (and no, it's not all about sex) is hilarious, especially as some of the women don't particularly want to give up the amulets. Misunderstandings, hide-and-seek, and construction workers add to the fun.
Inn of 1,000 Sins (1975) seems out of place in this collection. It stinks. I don't just mean a little... It reeks.
The only thing I didn't like about the first three films listed is that they're dubbed with English voices. If I had my way, there would've been an option to use the original voice recordings. Some of the voices seem... a little... off... But then, we're not watching these films for the dialogue or subtitles, lol... they're good, clean erotica from a simpler time, before life, love, and sex got so... complicated.

Bottoms Up deserves five stars, Run, Virgin, Run perhaps 3 stars, the others one star is a compliment. The collection barely makes the status of 'comedy'.

There are some amazingly beautiful women, appearing in their natural beauty. Combine the beautiful women with some gorgeous scenery and a little bit of humour, and it makes for a great night at the movies.

At the price, quite good value for money with four soft-core films and informative liner notes.

All four films have mildly humorous plots and a decent amount of nudity. The women are attractive, and quite natural - all filmed before artificial enhancement became the norm. Nothing hard-core here, but there is full frontal nudity - nothing shaven, just lightly trimmed bushiness.

In terms of transfer from film, quality is reasonable and perhaps a little cleaning up has been done - but certainly not remastering. Perhaps that adds to the charm, and keeps the cost down.
