5.0 out of 5 stars The title says it all.
And add Quentin Tarantino to the mix and you're scrapping the surface of what this movie is about/like. It is bent, it is bizarre, it is violent, it is unfathomable, it is delicious, it is brave, ... it is simply one of the best movies made. Best taken with doobage.

2.0 out of 5 stars Sukiyaki dvd
It was OK. there was a scratch on the disc but luckily it didn't affect the performance. Other than that, the package arrived
within promised time frame and everything else was OK.
I am not sure if the damage was caused in the factory or what as there was no sign of a damage on the package.

normally i like the strange, violent asian movies with great characters but for some reason this movie failed to hold my interest. The pacing was just off and i didnt care about any of the characters. i really wanted to like this one, i even watched it once a few months ago and decided to give it another chance but it let me down again, ill be throwing this one in the pawn shop pile.

I saw this movie last summer at the Fantasia Festival 2008 and I felt in love with it! Asian western are always something you have to see. This movie is truly a Wetern-spaghetti that you can't miss.
Face it, you're life means nothing until you see an entire film with Japanese's actors speaking english during the entire movie.
No subtitles this time!

I had been really looking forward to buying this DVD but was disappointed to find that this version of the movie is not the same as the one shown at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2007. It has been pretty heavily edited. Granted, some of the cuts were warranted; there were too many similar scenes with the Sheriff originally, and the homophobic gags have thankfully been removed.

However, I did miss Akira's scenes and the Mayor's scenes. Even though they were not essential to the plot, they did help to create sympathy and explain the motivations of the main characters. Let's face it, this film is not really about the plot anyway; it's about the little details and how much fun you have along the way.

Finally, a word of advice: Be sure to watch with the subtitles on. The actors speak in English, but not without an accent. Even in the theatre it was shown with subtitles.
