5.0 out of 5 stars Good Dvd, but 1960's Collection a better deal...
I bought this dvd years ago and considered it an absolute essential cartoon to own. However since then the boxed set Peanuts 1960s Collection was released which not only contains the Christmas special but also 5 other Peanuts cartoons from the 1960's (including the Great Pumpkin episode, another classic), and being only a few bucks more than this it is a far better deal...

3.0 out of 5 stars Great TV, Fair DVD
This DVD contains two Charlie Brown television specials, "A Charlie Brown Christmas" - which is wonderful, and "It's Christmastime Again, Charlie Brown" - which is not. The DVD contains no other bonuses. But then again, it's inexpensive, and you get to own the hands-down best Christmas special ever.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Ultimate Classic, Dec 15 1999
By A Customer
Anyone who doesn't love this video must have a stone heart because it is truly one of the all-time greatest Christmas stories ever made. Young or old, it is a treasure for everyone. I have watched it since I was very young, and this year I will have the pleasure of introducing it to my son. Don't pass this one up, Merry Christmas!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Christmas treat for both children and adults!, Nov 5 1999
By A Customer
Don't let the animation fool you, this is as much a movie for adults as it is for children. The classical score and the witty dialogue combine to make this one of the most sophisticated cartoons and one of my most cherished Christmas traditions. It is heartwarming to watch as Charlie Brown and the Peanuts gang rediscover the true meaning of Christmas.

5.0 out of 5 stars This truly is the best Christmas program ever., Oct 27 1999
I have watched this Christmas special every year since I was three years old (1965). It is a classic in every sense of the word. From Vince Guaraldi's score to Linus's true meaning of Christmas speech, everything brings back memories of sitting in the living room drinking a glass of milk and having a few Christmas cookies before bed. If there is one Christmas video to own, this is it. Make it a family tradition. My family has

I have watched this wonderful movie every year since I was 8 or 9. It never fails to get me and my family in the Christmas spirit. No matter how many times you watch it, you never get bored with it.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best Christmas movie, ever., Aug 18 1999
By A Customer
When I was a freshman in college, I stopped typing my term paper (due the next day) so I could watch it on TV. The next year my roommate gave me the video for my birthday so I could watch it whenever I want. There are only three things that I need for the Christmas season: A Charlie Brown Christmas, How the Grinch Stole Christmas and the Muppets album with John Denver. And then, even though I am a college student and have to spend most of December studying for finals 600 miles from home, somehow everything seems right again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Proof that good things are built to last, April 20 1999
By A Customer
When Mr. Schulz and Bill Melendez decided to launch this half-hour special for TV there were many things against the odds: The music, subject treatment and Linus's Bible reading were unlike anything else tried on TV before. Work was done in just 4 months flat (considering the lot of work that goes into an animated feature) and a lot of money and resources were put at stake. Lucky for them - and a lot of us - "Sparky" hit the nail on the head. This film was the absolute winner of next year's Emmy awards for television for kids programming, along with more accolades and recognitions. I think the different treatment of the Christmas theme present on this film has captured interest across generations and, in true Peanuts' style, is something that makes you ponder beyond the obvious. One of those films that will never fade out and that are enjoyable beyond the season.

5.0 out of 5 stars It always take me back., April 18 1999
By A Customer
This is a movie that will always take me back when I was a kid sitting in my front living room with my dad in his lounge chair and my mom sewing on the couch, and of course me watching Charlie Brown and filling soooo sorry for him because he tried to decorate a little dying christmas tree. A truely great movie for all ages.

5.0 out of 5 stars I Feel Depressed..., Dec 31 1998
...if I don't get to see this each year. I've been watching it since I was knee high to a grass-hopper. Snoopy and the gang are great but what really made this is the Vince Guaraldi Music.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent for all audiences, Dec 1 1998

This is a great video for having fun while remembering that the true meaning of Christmas, as Linus reminds us, is to celebrate the birth of Jesus.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Animated Xmas feature, Nov 23 1998
By A Customer
Charlie Brown searches for the true meaning of Christmas in a world besieged by commercialism. The story Charlie Brown's quest works on a number of different levels, making it worthwhile viewing for children and adults. This half-hour special hits the mark with its message, its wit, music and charm.
