Fantastic!, Oct. 18 2008
This is an amazing album. Keane fans will not be dissapointed. The band has managed to progress and expand while still keeping the heart and soul of their sound. I give the upmost praise when I say I hear traces of Queen, musically and vocally. Whether you're a Keane fan or just a music lover in general, go out and treat yourself to this album and enjoy!

Never seen-- but still Keane, Oct. 17 2008
Well-- okay. It isn't the Keane that I know, and I knew that when I bought the cd in the first place. However, I'm not here to rant and rave about how it's terrible and how Keane has changed and how heartbreaking. No. If that's the kind of review you want, stop reading this right now,`cause that isn't what you're going to get from me.
Personally, I loved the cd after my fist listen. I'd ordered it the day before it came out (A hardcore Keane fan from the beginning), and now, finally, it came, and I eagerly ripped it open and popped it into the computer. Actually, that's what I'm listening to right now.
Well-- let's see. Spiralling is different from the radio edit version, and I think I preferred the latter, but it's still the same great song in the end.
The Lovers Are Losing is one of my favorite tracks. It resembles the old Keane in some sort of undescribable way. I like it; it's perfect to shake your head to the beat and to sing along and do funky dances. You can see how Tom's voice has grown since Hopes and Fears.
Frankly, one of the songs that disappointed me was Better Than This-- it seemed kind of alien. It sounds to 80's; and I don't know what the hell Tom was trying to do with his voice, but I went up and down like some fake-- thing. Anyway, I don't find that it's the cd's triumph.
Anyway, I've described the first three tracks-- and I can tell you that track 11 sounds vaguely like Bob Dylan-- and that Perfect Symmetry is the best track on the whole disk-- and that's pretty much it.
If you're a true Keane fan, you'll buy this cd, and it'll grow on you. I know I liked it, but if you are doubting, don't bother buying it.
Go Keane!

Reinvented, again, Jui 8 2009
I was hooked on Keane somewhere around 25 seconds into the first song of their first album. When the second album came along I was sure they could not duplicate the quality of the first. Lo and behold, it is twice as good as the first one, and Perfect Symmetry is twice as good as "Under.." My favourite song from PS is probably "Again and Again", followed by "Black Burning Heart", a song which originally left me a bit cold.
Highly recommended.

Now I'm even keener on Keane, Oct. 18 2008
Keane reinvent themselves for the third time with this excellent album that equals their brilliant debut album Hopes & Fears. From the first bars of "Spiralling" I sat up and said "Whoah! - This is Keane?"
Leaning more towards mainstream, this album blends alt rock and pop into a very pleasing result. Varying from their usual piano music forte, we hear drums, guitars, and synthesizers, especially on the first few tracks which will take you back to the `80s, when you listened to "Pop Goes the World" by Men Without Hats and "Maria Magdalena" by Sandra.
There's no need for me to list the good tracks from this album, as they're already right there on the track listing. After "Spiralling", which makes the observation "When we fall in love, we're just falling in love with ourselves", the next notable single is "The Lovers Are Losing", where Tom Chaplin sings:
"You take the pieces of the dreams that you have
Cause you don't like the way they seem to be going
You cut them up and spread them out on the floor
You're full of hope as you begin rearranging"
The title track sounds the most like the Keane of their debut album, and will bring back fond memories of "Bend and Break" and "Somewhere Only We Know". Same goes for "Again and Again".
Keane remains of the few groups/performers whose album I'd buy without even listening to a single song. Three albums, and they are yet to disappoint me. Great album, great album cover - enough already - you have to buy this one. Highly recommended.
